How many MF/Cotton/other do you use?

I was just curious on how many MF/Cotton/other do you use on an average size on car. This would be for a full detail with leather.

 

for a wash and wax i use about

10-12 CG Microfiber Max(for QD , window cleaning, wax/polish removal)
2-3 large green microfiber towels(for drying)
3-4 micro polish or super plush from swissvax and DB respectively(for polish removal. chrome, metal, windows)
8-10 more random types for a full detail

i use a few other random ones.. but every time i pick up a Microfiber Max i am super impressed.. no other microfiber i have used comes close to how thick they are!!!

 

So you're using over 20 towels on one vehicle? That's a lot of towels!

 

I use 20 towels in the blink of an eye on one vehicle

I just did a BMW M3 coupe and I have a full trash bag full of used towels

 

I am with Jason, 20 towels are probably a minimum for me.

20-30 is a good number. I guess it would depend on how many steps you planned on doing on the car.

Man I've been wanting to get a couple of those MicrofiberMax towels. Sorry to a o/t there.

 

I've never counted but I know its a lot. 20 would not be out of the realm of possibility.

 

:nod: I would have to agree, 20 is not that much. I just came back from the garage, gave the Lexus a wash and Crystal Rock job and I filled a bucket with micro fibers :shrug: I honestly don't know how many I used but I'm sure it's close to 20. You just cant have enough micro fiber towels :cheerl:

Oh and I only use micro fibers.

 

I think I have used at least 20 towels on a car before but I never really keep track.

 

For a full detail I would say
10-15 530xl
5-10 all purpose towels
2-3 glass towels
2-3 drying towels
This is for a complete detail 2-3 step polish 1 coat of js109 and 1 coat of one of my nubas(depends on which smell I prefer that day)
530xls are my polish removal/ wax removal/ final wipe down towels
all purpose are my interior metal polish wheel/ tire towels
glass are well for glass
2 drying towels are used on paint/ glass and 1 is used exclusively for wheels
My towels are washed separately depending on type and how they where used.
About 19 minimum and 31 max

 

Thanks guys! I'm surprised that some use MF on exhausts? Or is that just for metal trim?

 

I am in the same realm, especially for full details, I will be trying out the interior scmitt to see how its works. This might knock a few off the total.

 

I'd say I use about 10-15 towels per car, but it could be more.

 

I buy costco microfibers for dirty jobs such as exhaust. You dont feel bad throwing them away

 

And for wheels and engines bays too, I take it?

 

Yes i use them for everything including interior. And i use DD Uber towels for use on the cars paint

 

:nod: yes, that's exactly what I do. Great towels to use too and the price is great too.

 

I use detailersdomain all purpose towels for stuff like that.

 

For as many i throw away i would feel bad throwing away a $2.44 towel.
