I have been lucky enough to get a booth at a local car show in return for donating a detail for their silent auction, which is for charity so that makes me feel even better about it. Anyway I get a 10x10 "booth" that has a tent and a table. I'm trying to plan out everything I want to have there so I will post my list and would love for you guys to help me out with it.

    • Vinyl Banner w/ name and logo
    • Table covering
    • Foggy headlight that has been restored on one side to show a 50/50
    • Swirled hood or trunk that has been half corrected to show a 50/50
    • Photo album with my favorite before and after shots (would like to do a slideshow on a computer but there is no power available in the booth)
    • Business cards, flyers, pens
    • Raffle for a coupon on a detail in exchange for the customer information.

I'm sure I missed stuff so thats why I'm asking for help. Thanks in advance for any help guys. Thanks.

    Hello Dave, I have done this many many times and it looks like you have all the angles covered, the only two things I would add;

    1. Discount coupon x % off for the next detail job, this may help you to generate business tomorrow.

    2. I will take EVERY persons email, explain to them that you do detail specials, and you can inform about them.

Those are my suggestions, Good Luck with the event!

Make sure you tell them that you will send the winner an email to notify them. This will help weed out people putting down a non-existent email address to win if you are doing the drawing during the show.

You may also want to put some equipment/products on the table or on a seperate table for display. Higher end stuff that they don't see on the shelves of Autozone or Wal-Mart. Could help to generate questions/interest in your booth. Plus if they ask you a question about any of the products you have it gives you the opportunity to impress them with your knowledge.

You may even want to do a little correction demo at the booth...guess that would be tough seeing as you don't have electricity.

Sorry kind of long....I do trade shows for my job all the time and think it would be awesome to do one of these for detailing.

You could still do a slideshow if you have a laptop. I would inquire about the availability of a power source, they should have something available.

Having a hot babe at your booth will help attract attention.

^^^ Forgot about that! :applause2: That works wonders:worship2:

  6. Get a late model car that is filthy. Tape it in half, detail one side and leave the other half filthy. Also, on the clean side mask off a section to show your correction work :meditation:

Thanks, I was planning on getting peoples info but I didn't think about coupons. Thats a good one!

Thanks, I do need to figure out some power. Maybe an inverter in my car that I can run an extension cord from...hmmm....
This was my first thought, but this is a nostagia show with lots of familys with kids so I think I might hold off on that...or at least get one who is fully clothed...LOL
Thats a great idea but I don't think I will have the room. I might end up bringing multiple body panels though.

If you bring the panels already done that will allow you to be free to talk to many people at once, if you are tight up doing the actual work you may loose some future opportunities.

This is the type of models we had in our booths at the shows, the space was also the same 10x10

Thats a good idea. Where did you find the model and what did she charge?

We always hire local models to keep the cost down, on that particular case I went to Hooter's and while I was there I ask one of the girls and immediately I had 3 available, most of them will do it since is a little extra cash, that one cost me $250.00 for 6 hours, by the end of the day I had no voice left from talking so much, I also like to mention that MANY of these things sometimes work and sometimes they don't, My approach has always been like Starbucks, they did it one cup at the time, I try one customer at the time.

Best of luck and take some pictures!

Thanks Tito. That's a little more than I want to spend but I'm still going to look into it. Thanks for the tips!

One more thing if may; all the investment from that Car show is "Tax Deductible" you can deduct it as "Marketing" :headbang:

Too bad there is no power available. I would think a flood light would be essential for people to really see the difference on whatever panel you are bringing.

If you cannot hire models, how about some of your hot friends? Have them put on some expensive jeans and some 5" heels and you're in BUSINESS!

I don't know about that. Something about dudes in heels would keep me the hell away from that booth.

Seeing guys stumble around in 5" heels wouldnt discourage me from visiting the booth, Im comfortable with my sexuality. It would draw me to the booth, since it would be funny to watch and the booth owner is obviously thinking outside the box.
