Wow, I wasn't expecting so many replies... Thanks for all the kind comments everyone, I really appreciate it! This car is a blast and you know that a car is something special when you all you think about is driving it when you are not driving and you don't want to stop driving when you are actually driving. Thanks Domino, I am so happy with this car in almost everyway! It just feels so alive in your hands and makes my Saab feel like a truck haha. The color is Platinum Graphite which is different that the 40th edit. grey but I think that this color suits the car almost perfectly. My plans for the car in the short term are: -15/20mm H&R spacers -Berk high flow cats -Hotchkis or Stillen front/rear sway bars Long term stuff will be a tune, intake, and an OEM LSD install (getting it lightly used for around $150). I still have to strip the transport wax off so LSP is undecided lol, I will probably give it a going over with 85rd and my Makita and laying down some Pinnacle Sig. Series II or Collinite 915. Thanks man, I am glad you like it! I am under strict instructions that there will be no modifications (yeah, right) so everything right now will be subtle or hidden. I am going to install some spacers to push the wheels flush with the fender but wheels are probably much further down the road. Thank you Overtime! I was cross shopping between this, the Genesis coupe, and an STI and thought that the Z just had so much to offer. I have driven cars with sticks before but I am a first time dedicated manual driver so it is mostly getting used to the general dynamics. I think that headlight mod is really trick but I am going to wait on stuff like that till I get used to the car a bit haha.
Congrats! My friend has the same car down to the packages. Any reason why you chose this over the STI/Evo? I know they're totally different cars but I'm curious.
the Z has a proper sports car layout, sitting low down over the rear wheels, long bonnet out in front, interior wrapped around you no trumped up sedan no matter how big the turbo is or fast can give you that same sports car feeling that was my main gripe with my M3, it just didnt feel special driving it, and i always missed my Z
I never cared too much for the 350Z, but these new models are really hot. I wouldn't mind having a pearl white one. Congrats!!
Thanks Slang! This car was built from the ground up to be a roadster so the coupe benefits with even more rigidity but the roadster also does not have some of the typical downsides to chopping the top off. I don't think I will ever get another convertible after the Saab but they are great cars! Thank you Brendan! I honestly went into the car search not knowing exactly what I was looking for so I just decided to be open minded. I test drove the new Stang 5.0, too expensive right now. I then drove the Genesis 2.0T Track and thought it had a phenomenal chassis but lacked power and interior quality. I then test drove a 2010 STI and thought it felt like a fast kitchen appliance. I personally can't stand EVOs even though they are technically superior to STIs so I didnt even look at them. I was also looking at GTOs but I passed as well. I kind of stumbled onto the Z, took it for a test drive and loved it so I decided to look for more in the area and ended with driving away in a new 370Z a week later haha. I would only get a 2006-7 STI since that is my favorite generation, but they just didnt really light my fire the way the Z did. I appreciate your nice comment, thanks! EXACTLY. The way this car feels is amazing, it just feels so natural and alive that it makes you want more. I will admit that I am going to kick myself for the lack of practicality at some point but being a bachelor has its advantages. Next week, I will get the 5000k LED bulbs that replace the stock yellowish parking lights as well as Stillen sway bars, clear rear turn signal bulbs, and Berk high flow cats. Let the games begin!
oh man you test drove all sorts of fun stuff. Everyone has different likes, wants and even needs. I hate the 350 z's but this new model looks great. I always bee BMW's and STi's for sure. Never was a Evo man but some of the new Evo's are nice. A lot of nice cars out right now. I need to get me some LED's for my accord LoL
Haha, test driving is free! I honestly did not really know what I was looking for so I just decided to look at as many as I could and finally found a car that fit me the best. Next week, I will be picking up: -Berk HFC -Stillen or Hotckis sway bars (haven't decided yet) -Lightened crank pulley -Maybe an intake, depends on money
Wheels are coming later, probably later this year or early next year but we will see. I also have so many wheels to look through before finalizing my choice so that may also take a little bit of time. I have now ordered a Stillen G3 long tube intake and next week I will drive to the Z store in Orange CA to get Berk high flow cats and some other stuff. Then I will stop by Stillen on the way back and pick up their sway bars. I will be a happy camper this coming week!
Well, the modding has begun with my first round! Two 6000k LED bulbs for the parking/city lights to give the front end a bit more of an edge which I think worked well. What do you think, yay or nay? Before: After: 50/50 Shot, the LED is much brighter than the stock bulb in person: Matches the Bi-xenons nicely I was bummed that the Z store did not have any Berk HFCs in stock (they ordered a pair, 2-3 days and I will have them) so I stopped by Stillen to check out their headquarters and to grab a set of their sway bars. It is amazing how large their operations are, they have 3-4 buildings just to handle their inventory and operations not to mention their mechanic shop where all the good stuff is. So I walked around a bit and paid for the sway bars and drove home to install them. Let me just say that the front was super easy, but the rear was much more of a pain. I had to drop the exhaust and rear subframe cross member and brace to get the stock sway bar out and the new one in. I then made the blunder of putting it in the wrong way round so I was sitting there trying to figure out why it wouldn't fit. All said and done, I enjoyed the install and it was a nice way to check out the mechanical layout of the car. Pictures of Stillen: A supercharged 370Z getting tuned: My little spending spree at Harbor Freight: The Sway Bars: If I am honest, I could not feel a huge change between the stock and Stillen sway bars driving around town but once I hit the highway and took some on and off ramps, holy mother of jesus. It had no percievable body roll and felt pinpoint accurate. Honestly, I could only imagine what a good set of coilovers could do for this car but I think that the only time they would make a difference is on a track because there is no way you can use the handling potential and prowess this has even with just sway bars on almost any public road. Since I had to disconnect the muffler, I also started it up sans muffler and it sounded awesome. Stay tuned for exhaust and intake work!
beautiful automobile. they really arent cars anymore. suggest you try some liquid souverain wax on that color. it should pop!
