  totally agree...so from here on in I'm all about the short game. Oh a friend of mine told me that he has 4-wedges for different types of loft...is this normal? I mean I understand the concept, if you want the ball to drop on the same spot and not role around or anything like that I can understand but 4 wedges
Nica glad to see you are getting into golf. I play to a 6 handicap, if I could putt I'd be scratch. I do beg to differ with those that say that good clubs don't make a difference. Yes the pros can take a set from Walmart and play well with them but they won't play anywhere near their ability with great clubs. You don't have to spend a fortune but a good set from the beginning is worth it. Think of it as you want a set of clubs you can grow into as a player. If you start taking lessons which I highly reccommend then you will improve at a rapid pace in the beginning. Its a ton easier to break 100 than to break 80. So you will see vast improvement during that 20 stroke improvement and you want a set of clubs that can take you through that improvement. The best money I ever spent in golf was a years worth of lessons with a PGA Pro. Also spend some money on golf balls. You don't have to play with Titliest Pro V1's but leave the Top Flights and Pinnacles at Walmart. They will not improve your game. Get a good mid tier ball like the Titliest So Lo or NXT. You get distance from the tee and some feel around the greens. Finally if you go to the driving range and practice for an hour hitting balls spend at least 1.5 times that amount of time practicing your short game (chipping and putting). If you can chip and putt with the best of them you will break 90 before you know it. The good thing about working with a pro is that when things start to go bad on the course, and they will, you will know your bad habits and tendencies and can make solid adjustments. If you don't know these things you will spend the entire round trying different things and something will work but only for a few holes and then the bad swings are back. Thats because right now all your good shots are based sheerly on timing and thats the first thing to go when the pressure gets on. Get a solid foundation to work from with fundamentals and have someone show you your bad habits and DRILLS to fix them. If someone gives you advice that fixes a fault while you are playing it WILL NOT last. The only way to fix a bad swing fault is through a proper drill to create the correct muscle memory. Also figure out soon if you are going to be a analytical player or a feel player. And believe it or not it will be tied to your personality most times. I'm an analytical player. Tell me what is wrong and show me how the correct sequences should be made and I correct myself using those techniques. Other feel players just go by how a good swing should feel. Oh and one of the most important things I was taught.... "Feel and Real" are entirely different. You may feel like you are taking a half swing but I bet you are taking a full swing if you could see it.
That is so true. The thing that I think made the most improvement in my gameis when I decided to shorten my back swing (so it felt). Golf teammate noticed that I was going parallel to ground which I have heard was a good thing. Good info there JL.
 I agree great info there JL, I'm loving all the tips guys...keep them coming. I've been going to the indoor driving range just about every day now and yes I'm taking lessons now. Oh I got video taped again and boy what a difference from the first video..mm...speaking of which I should post those videos for you guys..that way you guys can give me more tips :thumb:
first of all i was a pro as nica knows.. well near pro. i was shooting 68-74 on what was the toughest course in the US when i lived in Hawaii. i could fly the ball 280. and the course was always sopping wet with about 5-10 yards of rough on either side of the fairway and then out of bounds on every hole.. hitting over ravines.. it was awesome playing in the jungle.. i could go in and find 10 pro v's at a time..and when it rained there would be 20 water falls or more on the mountain range next to the course.. the greens were HUGE!!! if you landed on the far end expect a 40 yard putt plus..the course had a 76.4 rating and a 162 slope.. koolau. a years member ship excluding weekends was 2000usd. what a deal.. on to the wedges i only used a 56 degree cleveland with low bounce and a 52.. when ever i needed more loft i would open up the face and swing outside in.. if you have 4 wedges you need to learn to play with 2. as you get older the utility clubs and fairway woods will help and improve you accuracy. and yes those can take place of the 2-4 irons but i would rather have a 3 iron for low to-impact style shots to hit under trees than have another wedge that i can create by altering my swing around the greens.. hell every hole every shot was a decision.. do i need a high draw high fade or a low draw or low fade..how much do i need? all the time.. it was too much fun.. then my back fell apart and i get to watch 80 year olds still play while I (27) lose my church... golf is such a great game!!! hopefully one day the docs will have a fix for my back and i can at least play again!!! oh and yes a 3/4 swing does help.. same with practicing to impact.. it tries to control the upper body from flying open.. that's what everyone does at the range. they try to muscle the ball.. i would have guys and girls asking me how you do that.. and all i would say is it's all lower body..why not use the largest muscle in your body?
Thanks for sharing Purplewidow eace: and sorry about your back :comfort: Tell you wat you teach me how to play golf and then you can watch me play golf...but at least I'll let you drive :giggle: just teasing.
My dad's company does the gun metal on Vjay's Cleveland's. Im going to guess a good set of clubs is important consider the face he finishes different pitches and degrees just for so he can change clubs depending on the course factors
 we will, next summer I'll put together a Detailing Bliss golf meet :thumb: Oooh I like the sounds of that..mmm...maybe we can include some prices too.......yea...not a bad idea..mm...
I like the sounds of that too:headbang: wonder if anyone has any connections of any good private courses
Calgarydetail does!!!! I wonder if DB Boss is a golfer? :shead: can't say I've ever heard him talk about golf  worth asking though.
That's awesome Calgary detail does. My two close friends are always up for golf... I just need to get them to join DB to make it an official meet.
Sweet so far we got Calgarydetail, sneek, you and two friends....and my self...maybe DB Boss but he's always out of town making lots of money  Oh Calgarydetail and sneek you guys are coming, I just volunteered you guys to come  oh and I'm not paying for you two :hmph:
I already cannot wait for summer:thumb: hey Nica, I have 2 questions for you 1) Did you get your hands on any of those foam guns 2) Do you know were to rent extractors from
Yea I'm all pumped about this golfing get together :cheerl: Foam guns...well I was going to go but then Chris told me has a bunch of UK foam guns coming, told him to put 5 aside for me so I never did go to that place I was telling you about...I figured I'd rather get the true UK product rather then who knows what I would get here locally  As for extractors...um...I can't think of any but if you'r really stuck and you need one I can let you borrow my HP-60. All my detailing products/tools are still stored in boxes...minus the wax collection :thumb: oh and rotary :thumb: but the rest of the stuff is just tucked at a corner waiting for the garage to be done...almost done...lighting system being installed this weeked :woo:
Meeee tooo. Oh Chris is getting them i see I think that I will hold out and get one of those when they come in. I really appreciate the offer Nica thanks. If I do not find any rental places I might have to take you up on that offer. I would obviously give you a deposit of the full amount the machine is worth when new and might even have to let you use my wash bay with storm sewing when the foam cannons come in:worship2:
I've seen a few places that rent the cheap extractors but they aren't meant for detailing vehicles, more for houses and for large flat areas only you can't even do stairs with them No worries you can use it as for deposit..um..a hand shake that you'll return it as I gave it to you will be good enough for me....oooh wash bay with storm line would be wicked..is this at your house? Or a shop?
