Flex L 3403 VRG Rotary Anybody have one?

Just what I was afraid of. It would have been nice to have matching machines.

 

If you are used to larger pads and are compounding 8h a day, I would not buy the Flex. But if you are a using smaller pads and not working in a body shop, then I would buy one. They are very similar to the Metabo but I find the Flex to be easier to controll since the speed dial is better placed on the Flex

It´s a top notch piece of machinery it you are using it right.

The lowest RPM is 900, not 1100. And this is not a problem, promise.

$200 is a steal since they are $599 in Sweden :lala:

I do use the 8" edge wool pads, but on the average only do a full day of polishing once a week. I can't recall if you have a metabo or not, but if so would you say the metabo is stronger overall machine?

Yeah but AG has the 603, not the 3403 and it's 239 vs. 199 for the 3403 @ PH.

 

The distributor website says it uses an M14. Are you thinking of the polisher that AG sells?

 

I have all the machines, Makita 9227, Flex 603, 3401, 3403, and the Metabo. the 3043 is the lightest and very strong, 10amp motor. It does bog a little with pressure, but will actually create some heat on the paint pretty fast. I am small in stature, so I loved the Metabo, but I always said that a Metabo with a trigger would be the ideal machine because of the trigger and lightweight. The Flex 3403 is just that machine.

Although it does have power, like others have mentioned, its not made for larger pads (8"). It'll handle 6.5" pads with no problems. I haven't had it shut down yet, after 3hrs of straight polishing per car. I have shut down the Metabo numerous times and am ready to throw it out now that I have my 3403.

Unless you need to perform "major" corrections or using 8" pads, this is an ideal everyday, normal correction machine. For "Major" corrections, I like the Makita. Minor corrections, the Flex 3401. And wax/sealant application or cleaner wax jobs (AIO or Menz APO60), the Festool.

 

I ordered mine yesterday ($219) from PH and I can't wait to try it out on my Father's Caddy in March. I did it last year with PC and Megs /PB products but will use system one this time. I also purchased 6" Edge wool and foam pads from AG.

Excuse my ignorance, but who's Phil ?? The only Phil I know is from Detailers Domain and he doesn't carry the 3403.

Guys, I have the 3403 and love it. I've heard alot of people say that they don't recommend using anything larger than 6.5 inch pads, but I can't find any reference to this in the Flex manual or on their web site. Can someone point me to this?

It seems to have more than enough power... I wonder why the restriction on the pad size.

The 3403 got quite hot for about the first 50 hours I used it. It must have been a break-in peroid, though, because now I can use it for eight hours straight and it's warm, but not hot.
