So I suggested to my local car club that we should go to this small town in Illinois called Benton and go drag racing at the neat little 1/8 mile track that's there. Well today a few of us went for a test drive if you will. We figured out how long it would take so we could designate a meeting time and place. We also found this really great Italian restaurant in town that we'll probably eat at. We also discovered this gem of a museum. Only one of the cars is actually owned by the museum. All of the rest are on loan from local residents. Just a few for your viewing pleasure: Can you say Beverly Hillibillies? A beautiful Rolls Royce. No it's not two different colors. The camera did weird things to this car. The original owner of this 1912 Ford (who's serial number is 666) was the last man publicly hanged in IL.
:thumb: Nice find, sucks for the guy who was hanged though. That track is actually why I'm heading down to St. Louis in June. Its for a car club meet.
very very very cool.. i am into classics...man i love these picks heres an intersting fact... if you notice on that rolls it has red RR rolls used the red RR untill mid 32 (or early 33, drwaing a blank).. they switched to a black one to honour and morn the death of one of the creators of RR. so any car pre 33 will have red and any one post will hae black
When in June? We're setting up our meet in June as well. Wow. That's a cool fact. From what I remember there are only 6 of this particular car in existence today.

Very nice post there littlemissGTO, the vehicles look very nice, very interesting the history some vehicles have :thumb: I enjoy going to Museums as well just wish I knew more about history but sometimes history can be very sad and some times difficult to comprehend. That last picture of what I'm assuming was used to hang people, what's the scoop on that? If you don't mind sharing that is.

That's a Gallows. It was used to hang Charlie Birger. What's even more interesting is that Mr. Birger's inmate number was 3313. He was scheduled to hang on April 13. There are thirteen steps leading to the top of the gallows, and his noose had 13 rings. Pretty freaky.
