    Excellent writeup and results.

My only caution would be with using the G220 for wetsanding. The "throw" or "stroke" of an oribial unit like the G220 or a PC is in the 7.5mm or 3/8" range, while the stroke of something like a Mikra sander is in the 2.5mm or 3/32" range.

The longer the stoke of the machine, the more chance you have of inducing pigtails into the finish which are harder to remove with machine polishing, especially on softer clears.

So machines like the G220 and Porter cable 7424/7336 have a longer stroke as they are more intended for correction.

Machines like the Mirka ROS625CV or the Airvantage Sander have a 2.5mm or 3/32" stroke.

Have seen a few folks like yourself who have used a porter cable 7424 or the G220 with a 3000/4000 disc who have had no issues at all with the pigtails.

Here is an excellent thread on machine wetsanding.

Again you did an excellent job on the car!

I was looking at the mirka bulldog sanders yesterday. :yikes:

I wish I could my friend. I have a large 60 gallon compressor in my attic above the garage that will do fine. Not sure what I am going to use on the road yet.

A airvantage sander is sold here in the states for under $150, it has the 3/32 throw and is used by many bodyshops.
