Yeah, as long as the Li-Ion batteries have PCB (Protection Circuit Boards) on them, they're good batteries. For those that are unaware of what they are and what they do, they are very small circuity that prevent the battery cell from overcharging and undercharging resulting in the damage of the battery (which is what makes Ni-MH legacy technology to Li-Ion).
Eyezack..is that the right battery? It says this in hte writeup: Product Description The TK11 uses two CR123A batteries or one 17350 and maintains excellent constant brightness with two output modes: Is it the 18650 or 17350? EDIT: Answered my own question...from Fenix website: Cree Premium (R2) 7090 XR-E LED with lifespan of 50,000 hours • Two modes of output, selected by turning the bezel (Patented): Turbo Mode: 240 Lumens 2.7 hours (one 18650 Li-ion battery) 1.5 hours (two CR123A batteries) General Mode: Constant 64 Lumens 12 hours (one 18650 Li-ion battery) 10 hours (two CR123A batteries) • Highly efficient polished reflector - throws beam over 200 meters • Digitally regulated output - maintains constant brightness • Uses one 4.2V 18650 Li-ion or two 3V CR123A lithium batteries • 135mm (L) x34mm (D) • Made of durable aircraft-grade aluminum • Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish • 152-gram weight (excluding batteries) • Waterproof to IPX-8 Standard • Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating • Tactical tailcap switch with momentary-on function • Tactical removable grip-ring for cigar-hold technique • Anti-roll, slip-resistant body design • Included accessories: one holster, lanyard, rubber switch boot and two spare o-rings.
OK..how's this for messed up logic. Since the 18650's come in a 2 pack, I ordered both flashlights. I'm really curious to see how they compare, and for $35 for the 2nd one, I couldn't resist. Damn board....so hard to save money!!!
I just took delivery of my Stanley HID spotlight....it's a beast!! It's heavy and cumbersome. But this thing throws light like nobody's business. If they go for 50% off you may want to consider it. If I were honest with myself, I'll have A LOT more use for the Fexix and the other one than I will with the Stanley. It'll be fun to play with but that's about it. I may keep it in my car, I don't know. It did come with a DC adapter as well.
Fenix came in guys! They ship from CA if anyone was wondering. Its the exact same model/box/whatever as the one on Phil's site
eyezack...got mine batteries yesterday, had the light for a few days longer. Man, this thing rocks. Can't wait till my MTE arrives and I can compare them!
You got them already? Mine shipped on the 26th so hopefully this week :applause2: Richy bought it off DX I believe
You are correct sir. Like Isaac said, got it off DX (where I also got the batteries and charger he linked to earlier in this thread) HERE'S the link to the one I bought. Heath..I'm either gonna use the Fenix or the MTE at work..I'll see what one is brighter and which one I like more. I got the 2 mode MTE for simplicity.
I got to looking at light and read where the SkyRay was suppose to be a really good light and cheaper. I got the light, 2 batteries and charger for $40. 320 lumens. Its on back-order for 2 more days though. If this one is better than my Fenix, I might be giving it to my g/f!! hehehe Link http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.32749
Wow...good find there buddy...the reviews on it are well written (especially the 1st one) and are encouraging...please post up your thoughts on how it compares to the Fenix...I will do the same with my MTE.
Heath...if that one is still on back order, you should consider THIS one. I may order it after I get back from March break. Also check out YouTube - MTE_SSC_P7_vs_Trustfire_TR_1200_5_Q5.wmv video of a comparison to the MTE which I have on order to the one I just suggested...fricking awesome! Let me know your thoughts.
Have to wait til I get home in the morning. YouTUbe is blocked at work. Sorry man! Looks a little long. I like carrying mine in my pocket.
