Back in CT, it was Sunoco 93+ all the way for me. I have pretty heavily modded my car and when I fill up at Sunoco, the car does tangibly pull harder which was something I wasn't looking for or expecting when I first noticed it. Now I am in CA, I have to deal with 91 loaded down with all sorts of additives that the Clean Air people add in. Normally, I go to Shell for gas if possible but my car is not super picky as long as it is 91 or more.

I am thinking about picking up a jug of race gas to mix in every once in a while.

what kind of car and what kind of mods? I haven't seen any 93 out here . . . . 91 is the highest we have in hawaii otherwise you can run race gas.

i like to put in whatever is the cheapest. Of course my car is a truck and it has a 350 in it so as long as the gas is flammable im good.

My wifes car on the other hand, IS300

she will ONLY fill up with shell and then every five tanks she fills up with chevron with techron.

I use BP because I get a 5% rebate on every gas purchase.

A 1996 Saab 900, 'big' T28 turbo, 50# injectors, full 3" exhaust, big intercooler. The higher the octane, the more boost and timing the ECU allows and it has no problems with lower octane but I like power which is why I go for 91.

I haven't seen anything over 91 in CA because I believe the clean air legislation prohibits anything more. I felt the difference immediately going from 93+ to 91 octane.

Uh, let me go ahead and open this can of worms - Costco. I fill up both my Acadia and G8 GT with Costco 87. Acadia has been running fine for 1 1/2 years and the G8 for 8 months. Both engines run fine and no knocking or other funny busines..

Costco is not bad gas, it just depends on who they supply from and sometimes it is top grade and sometimes it is your normal gas...my parents use Costco/BJs gas in there cars for year and have not had issues.

The biggest thing to remember is not to fill up when they are filling the tanks and go to a station that has decent turnover.

Yup, the stuff at the bottom of the tanks gets kicked around. It's also true to kind of keep the same idea about filling up your own tank as well; don't wait until it's really empty. :(

I found this interesting. Supposedly, to get the most gas out of a fill up, you should fill at the slowest setting on the pump to minimize vapor. They say that when you pump the gas quickly, more vapor is created and you pay for this vapor that is lost to the vapor recover system at the pump.

Im not sure if this is true. Has anyone else heard about this?

Only shell and sunoco 93 for me. Mostly sunoco 93. I can't even stand to run 91 on my GTI anymore after getting the turbo back and intake. Noticeable difference.

Cool what software are you going to get? I'm going for the APR Stage2+ in a month or so.

I was thinking of APR as well, but need to get a turbo back and some other little upgrades before i want to chip it.

Yeah I hear ya. I was lucky to score my APR turbo back and VF intake for free from work off a car that got traded in. I'm dreading having to spend a shitload on the high pressure fuel pump, but oh well. Gotta pay to play. only reason I'm thinking about APR is bc their tune for Stg2+ deletes the CEL, and GIAC doesn't. GIAC is more aggressive though and is what I've used in the past via AWE. I might just deal with the CEL and go with the AWE fuel pump and GIAC tune from them. I dunno...

As long as they have diesel, I'm there.

My local Shell is usually where I go, but that's only because it's convenient. I fill mine up to where the diesel sits in the neck, and it takes a while. So I don't want anyone rushing.

But it never fails some bum comes up with some sob story on why he needs money.

This week, a guy in a Trailblazer pulls up next to me. Comes up and says that he's not looking for money (great, here we go) but that he just drove in from Houston and that he needs a gallon of fuel so he can get to his brother's place. I should have punched him in the neck. What a loser.

GIAC tanked with the 2.0t. Quite a few people have switched away from GIAC.

Also big skip on the AWE fuel pump.

don't you just hate that? I remember a young woman asked me for money in Walmart parking lot, she said her car is out of gas, and she left her ourse at home...I said that I don't have any cash (what I usually tell)...when I returned to the parking lot she and her car were gone...I actually had a few bucks in cash, but what pissed me off is that she was smoking...so you don't have money for gas, but you have money for cigarrettes?
