for me i guess it depends on the job at hand. if it is a one step i use my flex. if i am color sanding, then rotary and multiple steps.

Do you guys find that using a White pad with SIP has enough cut to handle Most situations of light swirls?

Paint dependent. In many cases it will do some good work.

Also sometimes SIP on white will leave some hologramming and some haziness.

For a two step its a great combo on many paints where you will be finishing with a lighter combination.

Depends on the paint for sure. On my honda, 203 on a LC white is enough to take out the average swirls.

    Rotary all the way.
I tried a DA but felt i had back peddled tbh.
Dodo lime prime is good for refining and also in some circumstances good at moderate correction work, LC ccs white or similar with lime prime acn give great results.

Rotary isn't hard to finish down after a couple tries. It is harder depending on the pad and polish combination, but for something like 106fa or PO85RD on black or blue it's easy for me and I'm not that experienced.

I use nothing but rotary, I can't stand the vibration from DA's.

With enough practice you can do just about anything with the rotary...but it's always good to have a DA as much as I hate their vibration they do come in handy from time to time.

As discussed, it'll come down to the paint itself. I did a truck for a client (repaint) where i was able to use a compounding pad and Power Finish and that was it. No holograms, marring or anything. Yet the new Camaro I did was a PITA as my go to GI green and Power Finish marred the crap out of it so I used a PC on it.

Whenever you guys use a Porter Cable after only using rotary, do you feel like you took a step backwards?

Taking a step backwards is trying to finish with a rotary when you know damn well you need to use a pc and messing it up! I used to look down on my pc a bit but with the polishes and pads that are available, the pc can do pretty much anything the average guy would need it to. In the hands of a person with a functioning brain, its near damage proof. Its just not idiot proof. LOL

One of my neighbors has a M6 that i want to do.... BUT i said my 'Reasonable" price was WAY too high (Trust me, it was Not)... So he is taking it to a $100 hack... once it comes back from the hack, the fun will begin lol.

C A R E F U L ! There will be times when having a PC will save your ass. The next time you are working a Porsche with sticky paint and its 90 degrees out and your going nuts with your rotary.......you get the picture.
