My Friend jus called me and told me his dealership is paying him $140 to polish cars. I think thats good pay. does anyone esle do Dealership details?
I have in the past. $140 from a dealership is very good. Most wanna pay $75 and they want the car done yesterday and it better look as good as new. Did I mention also that they wanna only pay once a month/net 10th :duh:
I just went into Mercedes-Benz of Memphis the other day to talk to the detailing guy. I brought in a little .5" binder with like 10 pages to show him right then and there. Then gave him my card to refer him to my site. He was very interested and very nice to me. He said he would call me back wihtin the next 2 days. I was SO exctied. He never did. So I called back a week later and got his voice mail and he never returned my message. I went in today to see if I could talk to him and he told the front desk lady that he wasbusy and to come back next week. Big let down. I was so excited. My dream is to detail a sick Mercedes. Detailing at a Mercedes dealership would be heaven then. Oh well. Richie Carbone on here does I think. He has some sick write ups with Aston Martins and Bentleys
My friend works in the dealership as a VW tech and Im a Audi Tech. so he had connections to begin with, and He talked to the sales manager.
Dealerships are a hit or miss. I picked up a large account and held it for a full summer. Once summer was over and they slowed down, they let a lot of vendors go, including me. They called me back to see if I wanted to wash the cars on the lot only, which I declined. Never worked there again. Picked up another account in the next town over. Work wasn't the best, or even enough to keep me busy. They hired someone cheaper. I do get calls every once and a while to do a seat shampoo or odor removal, other than that, nothing from them. Went to another dealership, they wanted someone more detail oriented to replace the few fly by night guys working for them. I did a test car, was trashed of course. Took a little while. I didn't get the job, I was too expensive I guess. He never called me back to say yes or no, but after no call for a week, I got the hint. I did happen to see the manager at a restaurant and he approached me to say Hi. I turned and walked away with out saying a word. Another one hired me, but called me the day before I was to go out and they said they just hired another Porter instead. It's good fill in work when you can get it, but be prepared to get dicked around. The 1st dealership I started doing was fairly decent and I got to know the manager well. I even got to take cars home with me to do them when I wanted. Some will take forever to pay. One took 3 months actually. And as said earlier, they want to pay peanuts for top work. Cutting my price more than half was too expensive. After I got done paying an employee and the other expenses, I would have been pretty much working for nothing.
to tell you guys a secret, He never detail a car before, He jus needs some extra income, so I help him out and sold my PC n other stuff that he needs for a very good price. so yeah I dunno if you can be a hack with a PC.
