Bottom line find what ever works for you . From whom ever gives you the best support and go from there. Products come and go customer support is most important.

I've received great customer service from AG and DD. I've never had any problems with either. One reason I use AG frequently is their biweekly BOGO sales and free shipping promos.

AG has a lot of in house products and their moderators tend to push these products. Phil on the other hand has no in house products and will tell you like it is, good or bad, just ask.

True, Phil doesn't carry crap products nor will he tell you what to buy based on to which offers the highest profit margin. He knows what works and if you call him with questions about which polish/wax/etc... Works best on a specific car, he has an answer

One thing about Phil, which is cool is he personally tests things......... not just once, but for quite a while.

Ranney with Pakshak does the same thing as Phil. Both are top notch in my books.

AG does have MANY great quality products, I just have always felt much much more comfortable purchasing from Phil based on his service, support and I just know no matter what I buy from him, he doesn't sell anything that is crap. And if you do get a lemon or defect in any way, he stands behind what he sells.

There are many products AG carries that Phil doesn't that I do want to try, but I feel I have to be more careful and research what I am buying to make sure it is quality and what I want.

There are alot of quality products that work out there from many manufacturers. What sets a company apart today in my book is the customer service and after sales service. Phil rules these worlds from my experience. I have asked for reccommendations from Phil and he has always been spot on.

AutoGeek / Autopia and others a much slower to respond to pointed questions I have had. Seems that are more intertested in the Masses than the individual. I guess that is where the money is as apposed to my individual question/problem. The issue for me is I need some hand holdiung as I learn the ropes.

    Thanks Phil!!!!!!

I am not a pro but have spent a pretty penny on my detailing hobby.

I buy 95% of my detailing gear from Phil at DD. I avoid using AG at all costs because quite simply the customer service is horrendous and shipping takes forever. In case you haven't noticed they sell 30-40 of the same product under different names and various brands like wheel cleaners for example. I always liked DD because there were only a few of a certain type of product around and they were all top notch, basically its like just pick the wheel cleaner out of these 4 or 5 that fits your needs best and go with it. Site is easy to navigate and Phil is always responsive to emails and phone calls.

Agreed. I use DI for info/products as well but Phil's customer service and knowledge is always on point. He always compiles write ups on the newest products and always quick to support/answer the forums questions. Now that he carries AF products he's pretty tough to beat!

I'm always looking to learn from the vets on the forums as well as any other resource I can find. No reason to lock yourself down to a certain website/forum/product line.

If DD was on the West Coast he would get a lot more of my business. I'm impatient, so I usually go with other West Coast suppliers.

AG is fake and the Wal-Mart of the detailing community. They higher a bunch of famous detailers to push their relabeled products and force them to keep a hush-hush on everything. Also, other forums that companies run forums but claim to be "open" (AG is notorious for banning people that have a difference of opinion) have their paid fanboys always on the hunt for anyone saying negative things about their stuff. DD/DB, as far as I know, doesn't have anyone on the payroll to push their products, and most that shop with him, will say if a product is in fact a dud or not.

One of these days Phil will expand to SoCal and I will probably live in the shop. ;) (Hint, hint...)

I buy from AG, DD, DI, Autoality, and Amazon...HOWEVER if I am buying the first two places I go are Autoality and DD; the reason for this is customer service is not something you can put a price tag on...I have had great customer service at AG as well but it gets old having to keep a closed mind there to keep from getting in trouble for talking about other products...I bought quite a bit of BFWD from PAC before they went out of business and hopefully wont need to pay the extra $10 anytime soon for the AG label...

All of these comments about AG were my exact snap judgement of them. It seems very Wal-mart like to me. Thanks for all of the input!

AG delayed the only order I have ever made from them for TWO months, they sent one email explaining that they sold me something that was not in stock. I would not have ordered from them but they had an item I wanted to try that Phil does not carry. There is NO substitute for DD, by all means shop around but go back and buy from Phil.

Yup AG is the WalMart of the industry. Dilute products and take the pizazz from the market of speciality.

I frequent AG quite a bit. Then I found DD and Phil. Just felt better(don't really know how to explain it better) I now find myself here more. Just placed my first order with Phil yesterday and asked a question and he emailed me back pronto. The customer service is top notch. I never ordered anything from AG , so I don't know their service. Another thing that got me to order from Phil is his awesome write ups and blogs. Keep up the great work!

If you understand that AG's house brands are all made by 4Star and they are like the old General Motors (different badges - same car) then it's ok, they aren't bad and I actually liked XMT #3, I thought it did what it claimed, probably filled a lot, but other than being on the pricey side, it was a decent medium polish. I like the sheer number of brands they carry and the fact I can get "most" everything I need at 1 store and shipping up to NC is 2-3 days max. I've never had a issue with them in over 6 years. But, hey I like to shop around and get the best deal, if ADS or DD or DI have something I want at better price and free shipping - then that's where I go.
I agree the AG Forum is shill city!

I've purchased from AG before, prior to Phil carrying Meg's products. While I have never had a problem, I prefer knowing that I'm supporting a business that sponsors many auto forums when I spend with DD.

This forum provides good advice and you can say the names of brands without being banned... I don't like the 'think like the rest of us or leave' mentality of the AG board; I haven't been there in 5 years so maybe things are different.

I've purchased from just about everywhere over there years, but recently I left an item in my cart at DD, and the next day, Phil emailed me asking if I had questions or needed any help ordering, since I left that item in the cart and didn't purchase yet, that was very impressive to me, and DD will get more of my business in the future. AG I purchase from only if they have a BOGO item that I want/need, but other than that, I go elsewhere, mostly because of the excessive shipping charges.

Also, AG is definitely a shill based site, as is Autopia (probably more than AG), and both can be lumped into "if you're negative about the house brands, you will be banned" or "please only say good things about the house brands". Ask me how I know.
