flat rate, or put in your products as weighing less so shipping will cost less :)

I'd have to say no, mainly because I don't make any sense. Of COURSE people want free shipping Phil. Flat rate shipping would be pretty cool.

Maybe USPS Priority with delivery confirmation as a shipping option.

You can fit a lot in a 7.65 flat rate box! They have a 4.95 container too for mf's,sv brushes, etc.

The ONLY downside to USPS priority is you don't get real time tracking like you do with fedex/ups.

I really think this is a great idea.

ALso the largest box they have is decently sized, has a 70 pound weight limit, and costs 13.95 to ship.

Of course, not all orders can go USPS because of size, but for the majority, it can work.

They may even offer discounts to businesses who decide to use them, and would allow you to make a slight profit from the shipping as well.

The timeline for USPS priority is very nice too. I get my packages faster than fed-ex or ups.

I have made a few purchases with Phil.

    ORDER $..........SHIPPING..........DISCOUNT..........TOTAL
    45.70...................12.60..............AUTOMATIC............58.30
    95.17...................13.29..............AUTOMATIC............108.46
    94.38....................8.90..................9.44....................93.84
    82.82...................12.98.................8.27....................87.53
    57.85...................12.35................14.47...................55.73
    52.91...................12.35................5.29.....................59.97
    379.65.................14.35................32.98...................311.22
    239.00.................10.04................43.02...................206.62
    132.90.................34.42................23.92...................143.40
    147.46.................14.35................26.54...................135.27
    87.21...................13.59................8.73.....................92.07
    174.95.................11.43................17.49...................168.89
    123.00.................10.69...............NONE....................133.69

As you can see, many times the discount trumps the shipping charges. If we lose the discount to free shipping, we would end up getting less than we are getting now.

Just like P1et mentioned, it's always good to keep in mind what kind of rates your competitors are doing. Like I mentioned before, this is one of the main reasons to how I choose who to purchase from. I'm all about saving some dollars to get more products! :)

I think flat rate below $100 may give you more consistent orders and not have people waiting for the mega sales to order. I would likely order more often when I wanted something.

For example, other than Adam's. Phil you are the only one I know (but have not looked hard for others) that carries Adam's products. I am not likely going to order any from anyone no matter how much I like the Underrcarriage Spray unless I added to an bigger order due to shipping on one product.

The people who use a lot of stuff usually can get free shipping, etc but the little guys who want to buy say 2 or 3 products may go somewhere else.

I think it needs to be the amount that makes sense for you...finiancially. It would be wrong of me to suggest you offer me free shipping for a $100 order if that would dig into your margins and, ultimately, your bottom line. Though, I do completely agree with Bunky's point that orders would likely be more frequent for those who wait until they have a large enough order to make it viable for them.
