In IE - Tools -> Internet Options -> Under Browsing History hit Delete -> Temporary Internet Files select Delete Files...

Windows TEMP is typically C:\WIndows\Temp sometimes it is C:\Temp. You can find it going to Start -> Run and typing in "%temp%" (exactly as written but without quotes).

You may also want to follow the advice in another thread and use CCleaner or Glary Utilities to clean up remnants of the mess.

    Good luck.

OK, I got it all taken care of and re-downloading my Norton 360.

Maybe I over re-acted? But I was worried. I couldn't use CTL+ALT+DEL, and now I can. I couldn't go to display options, and now I can.

hopefully it will never happen again.

Thank you BOTH VERY MUCH!!!!!! I would have taken a hammer to the laptop by now.

    I did download CCleaner earlier

Viruses and malware disable a lot of things that can be used to remove them.

Keep that AV and anti-malware up to date. (or get a Mac and hope the script kiddies never target them)

Now you know how everyday is in my world. Glad it worked out.

Well, I wouldn't say that Mac OS X: 2007 Year Ender for Zlob « Threat Researcher More and more viruses are being created nowadays with Mac's increasing popularity. I have a dual OS (XP and Linux) and I've even installed Clam, as more and more are starting to appear these days.

That sucks, one of the reasons I bought a mac was so I wouldn't have to deal with antivirus programs and even worse the viruses themselves.

That is pretty frequently. I used to re-install once a year. Now I have clean images built and it is a much faster process to just load one of those. I also use VMWare quite regularly and have numerous custom built VM machines that I use to test new software, surf the Internet, etc.
