On my 2004 Black Chevy 2500 Duramax I have duragloss on it now. I need to strip all of it off and get all the swirls out of it and start from scratch. I like duragloss but if you think cg is better I am defentitly going to try it. Tell me a good method from start to final lsp thanks!
Well lets start with what kind of time you have to work with on this truck and what products you either have already, or are planning on purchasing.
my paints in very good condition. some light swirls from poor washing. I have pc, 2 bucket washing system, ordered a bunch of pads ccs, duragloss 111, dg quick detailer, dg prebonding agent, dg anti scratch swirl remover, dg 901, mf wash mits, I just ordered cg foam cannon, 10 big mf from cg, asortment of zaino products, just ordered cg water spot remover and quick detailer and new car scent air freshner
I would suggest picking up a quart of menzerna P0203 from phil and green pads and just working out whatever swirls you may have. And for extra gloss some Meg's 205 with like a black pad
Or depending on what pads you settle on some Megs 205, since its pad and pressure dependent will be very versatile.
+1 for Menz 203 and LC Green foam pads Foam and Polish Combinations All abrasive polishes are ‘foam pad and applied pressure dependant’ as far as their paint correction abilities are concerned. If we consider the Lake County (LC) White foam (50 PPI) polishing pad as the baseline; any polish used will derive help from the abrasive abilities of the foam. Then consider the LC Blue (70 PPI) finishing pad has no abrasive ability and will contribute nothing to the cutting capability of a polish. What is derived from this is that a polishes abrasive ability can be ‘fine tuned’ by using different combinations (abrasiveness) of polish and foam (the same thing is true of wool pads) and of course differing the amount of downward pressure (10-15 Lbs is the usual range) applied will also have an effect on the abrasives capability Different pad / product combinations a) Base pad / product (least abrasive pad / product) if this combination does not provide the desired results, increase the aggressiveness of the technique or product selection. b) Step-up 1 - using the same pad with a more abrasive product c) Step-up II – use a less abrasive pad and the same product as used in step-up I d) Step-up III- using the same pad with a more abrasive product
ok these is what i had in mind.. My dog jumped on my tailgate the other day... Ugh um i was not happy.. So i will correct that scratch with a yellow ccs pad with megs 105 and then use power finish on the whole truck with a green pad and then use3m ultra fine with a blue pad and then ez creme from cg with jetseal on top of that with xxx hard core from cg on top of the jetseal lsp.. does this sound ok? what will i benefit?
Why dont you try 105 on the green or white pads. 105 fortunately is pressure and pad dependent, meaning you can get a lot of relative cut from just a white pad if youre using slow movement and a good amount of pressure. Otherwise it sounds good, if you have something else to use in place of the Ultrafine for a finishing polish(im assuming you mean ultrafina and not UK ultrafine compound) I would go with that. You can expect a LOOOONG worktime from ultrafina on a PC. But powerfinish, provided you work it down long enough will leave a really nice finish for just the 1 step.
Duragloss 111 is a pure sealant and does a really nice job. You can use polish bonding agent 601 before the 111. And you can top it with DG 105 which is a sealant/wax. I did DG 601, 111 and 105 on my car with amazing results.
There are tons and tons of great products out there to chose from so you will get lots of differing opinions about what to use. For the Duragloss line, I would suggest that you get yourself some of their 501 marine polish. It is amazing at cleaning paint. I have never used their swirl remover so I can't comment on it. The 111 is great stuff but for some reason is twice as expensive if bought in smaller quantity although by the gallon they are the same. 501/601/111(or 105) will give you a great finish with outstanding protection, expecially for this time of year when you need it.
