Beautiful job, very meticulously done. When you took paint readings, what areas do you normally take them from ? I have worked on the black series model and noticed the Merc paint behaving different from most other paints/clear. Seems to have quite sufficient paint in some areas and others not. ??? If you don't mind Aaron, could you pm me what you charged on this detail job, i very much appreciate it, Thanks.
well i am a merc fanatic. got a e 63 and love em. did you get a ride in this beauty? hear the suspension is hard as rock but crazy fast cars should be. before moving here to oregon i lived and worked all over the bay from hayward. kinda miss the weather but hail in newark yuck
Thanks! It's decently hard. Not the hardest, but not the softest. As you can see with my pad and polish combination, I went mildly agressive to achieve the results I was after (95%+ correction). Yes, I do think a freshly polished car in ANY color is more noticeable. It's all in the eye of who you're talking to, though. Breaking down polish is relatively uniform for any color--obviously having the right lighting will help you achieve the results you're after much more effectively. :thumb: Thanks! Thanks, Denzil! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! They were fairly uniform for factory paint, +/- about 15 microns accross the board. Between 185-210. There was a spot repair/repaint that was done RIGHT behind the drivers side rear fender bulge. It was done very, very well. But, of course the paint guage doesn't lie, and I found a bit of overspray, and the slightest discoloration that can't be seen in broad day light, as the sun washes out any color imperfection on such a small area. As for pricing, my hourly rate is on my website, and I spent 17 hours (with pictures being taken) on this car. Thanks a lot! The owner offered to let me drive it, but I respectfully declined as I wouldn't get to have any fun, and be too worried about doing something wrong, or better yet, another idiot on the road doing something stupid to me! Instead, I will be getting a ride in the F430 .
Stunning car dude and terrific work :thumb: Can you tell me more about the Valuguard kit, I haven't heard of it before?
Thanks a lot! Thank you, sir!! Hmm.. what were you looking for exactly? basically the idea of the kit is to chemically lift and remove bonded contaminants from the paint, as opposed to using a clay bar. It takes 4-5x longer than just claying--but obviously you aren't introducing any micromarring from the clay. It's a very nice kit, but I only reserve it for when I know I have the time, and the space + shade to take full advantage of it. Thanks, Dave
