Sorry if this has been posted before, i have been trying to find a post about it, yet couldn't find one...

I am wondering how you guys find out when to change the carbon brush? is it the sound or what? mine is flex 3403

    Please anyone got any solutions?

If your buffer no longer runs or is constenly cutting off every other second then you might need new brushes, but it could also be a trigger or the variable speed adjuster. I've had my dewalt for 3 years, it gets constant use, and I just recently did a complete tear down to clean and regrease the gears. When I removed the brushes they were less then half way worn. I figure I could go another 2 years easily until its due for new brushes.
