So, what is the opinion on machine application of waxes??

  10. As long as your LSP is liquid form you can apply by machine(da) I however have always preferred applying my LSP's by hand. I make long strides to cover as much area as possible, always starting in the middle of the panel. This will also "help" from getting residue on the trim

I will def use the DA for sealants, but paste wax is a no go? Just trying to minimize the effort I have to put forth right now since it's 115 in the shade. Come winter time though, heck, I'll could polish my whole car by hand:)

    Machine Application

The advantage of using a machine to apply these products is that it spreads a thin and even coating (ease of product removal is inversely proportional to the amount used) although a machine applies product in circular motions the pressure applied is very even (unlike a hand application) and requires much less effort than hand application; the downside is that it uses slightly more product.

Apply your coating in two thin layers to ensure an even coverage; not a single heavy coat; ensure the first layer is thoroughly dry before you apply the second.

Methodology- use a slightly damp, Black Lake County (or equivalent) 75 PPI foam pad at medium / low speed

'Damp' as in water, QD, pad conditioner, any of the above?

I sometimes apply it to my bare ass cheeks and move back and forth over the door panels and rear bumper. I typically play loud music to add some variation to my ass shaking, weather it be up and down or a little side to side action.

Please note, this will not work on the hood, deck lid, or roof.

The idea behind using a damp pad is to soften the pad and to lessen the amount of product used

    Proper Technique

There is no `one correct way' to apply a product; the way detailing products are customized are what each individual finds give them their desired results The detailing methods set out here have been adapted for special use and may not be the same as those recommended by the product manufacturer, and you may experience different results from those stated. Some of the methodologies are controversial as they do not conform to popular practices. I’ve found that some myths are deliberately perpetuated by product manufacturers as negative marketing and others are just common errors of judgment.

When in doubt always use common sense. A sound understanding of the proper technique and the correct process will produce excellent results even with a mediocre product. A quality product used without the proper surface preparation or application technique will never obtain a satisfactory result. Using the proper methodology (surface preparation, using a quality product, along with the correct application technique) will ensure an excellent result.

I read about applying in the direct of the wind, etc.

In the end, as long as your paint is clean and your applicator is clean, it should not matter how you get it on the paint as long as it is thin and even coverage.

Use what is easiest (least effort). To me, the Z-W method (horizontal, down, back, down) and the vertically similar pattern to get it even enough. Applying circles takes more effort.

Why not? I mean, as long as the surface isn't too warm and you have good balance? :gross:
