Very impressive PERFECTION. Care much for 3M Trizact system? Ever sand with anything really fine like 4000, 6000 or 8000 grit?
Is it Sac-Religous to not have blonde hair living in Florida ^^^^^^^^^^^ :giggle: J/K.....> :sorry: Looks like you have the same uniform as me. White T's and Cargo shorts :headbang:
beautiful work and stunning paint job. i usually dont like the flames and graphics on a car but man this one really makes me want one.
I have used lots of trizact when 3m was doing test market I help give them feed back on the 3000 and the new 1500 grit and I don't use over 3000 grit wet paper. I will be posting a BMW 645 that I polished out not sanded finishing about one hour ago.
You really made that paint come alive...great job indeed. Do you take paint measurements prior to sanding? I am looking forward to seeing more of your work. I don't sand nearly as much as I used to..getting lazy perhaps?
Beautiful work but David has a point why not use an air sander? by hand is how I sanded cars in the nineties......... use the air sander on the big areas and by hand in the tight spots. As for 3000 grit it is a great spot sanding grit level for deep rids where levelling the bid orange peel is not an option(like BMW) and finish off the last step to fill the larger sand scratches left by more aggressive grit(1000, 1500 grit etc..). Sorry Perfection for the thread jack:sorry: btw david I am intrigued by the micro finish papers with the ultra ultra fine grits !!!!.
The scissor lift and tile floor looks like the Detailing Dynamics shop in Mineola NY... im guessing that is where the cars done. Looks nice!
Yeah, there's no way I'd ever try doing a whole car by hand anymore with the current abrasive technolgy available. On a large flat panels it would take me a fraction of the time to just buzz everyting down with some 1500 and then refine it a little more with 3000. Then doing the tight areas by had of course. The nice thing about the Micro system is the substitution of using compound and heavy polishes for finer grit sandpaper. Nothing like creating a semi-glossy finish with sandpaper and just using/needing a final polish to finish. Regardless, PERFECTION, you are a true master of the craft and the car looks amazing. I'd love to see it in person because the pictures most likely don't do it justice.
When I use air sanders I start off with 800, 1000 or 1500 depending on who painted it. Another thing you guys need to know when it comes to air sanders not all are alike you need to be using a sander that is made for finish work not one that is set up to osolate for paint prep your sander should osolate at a pattern of 2.5 mm dia orbit 21055 6" (152 mm) Dia. Non-Vacuum Dynorbital-Spirit Random Orbital Sander with 3m interface pad. this and others made by this company and some others is what needs to be used when sanding with a DA
I like my Dynabrade for one of the reasons you mentioned, doing a car for a show finish is easier to me because you can go for a no orange peel look but if you are matching factory texture.............this is where I say "kids don't try this at home".
