Yeah, the PTG should work on aluminum since it's non-ferrous. The PTG is capable of measuring both ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces.

I thought that too.. but I'm not taking any chances. My customer is calling the body shop today, so we'll see what happens when he tells them "YOU F'ED ME CAR!!" or something along those lines :thumb:

In the mean time I'll be patiently waiting. :waiting: . I'll report back for sure though!

Thanks guys for the help :applause2:

    UPDATE!

So the customer called me back, and he took it to the body shop, they took measurements and agreed that for some reason the paint was VERY thinly shot on the car. So the first thing they said was "well have the detailer detail it, and if he burns through, we'll honor the warranty" :)yikes::shead::shakehead:). Then they said "if not, we'll reshoot it for you".

I told the owner of the car the second option, as the first option seemed a LITTLE fishy to me, on top of that.. if I detailed it, and some how miraculously DIDN'T burn through, it'd still be VERY thin clear. So I said for him to just get those two panels resprayed and we'll go from there. Sucks 'cause now I have no appt., but GOOD because I saved THOUSANDS in insurance claims.

It's all for the better Aaron. I'm sure this client will keep you as his detailer for life since you made him aware that the paint shop didn't do such a great job.

Oh yeah for sure! He said once it's done, he'll give me a call so I'm not worried.. except I hit a dry spell and am not working again for two weeks! I guess I can try and "Find" the PTG for you, Denzil :D :p:

Good for you, Aaron, and good for that body shop. I think you'll end up with a very loyal customer, and I'm guessing the body shop will too. It's a shame that you've got a dry spell as a result, but like Denzil said, the whole thing came good.
