Hi, Something a bit different. A friend of mine called me saying that his brother wanted his bike to look a bit better, as it had a lot of wash marring, swirls and scratches. I haven't done any motorcycles with full fairings before this, so it was fine to try something else, but man - all the crevices.. As the owner was with me all the time, I asked him to disassemble it which made it a bit easier for me to access all those tight places. Here the owner getting the fairing off the bike. Some of the parts that needed polishing. The paint was looking really dull and grayish: As this was done for a friends brother I wouldn't charge him anything else than the running costs, which meant that I put them to work too. I started degreasing the bodywork with P21S Total Auto Wash, before washing it with sheepskin mitts and CG CW+G. It was dried using a Black Baron dryer and a plush microfiber towel. My friend was then given the task of claying, which was done with Sonüs Green Ultra Fine and a mix of demineralized water/Swissvax Car Bath. It was given a quick wash after the claying, and dried again. Then moved inside. It was clear to me that the paint was quite soft, which at some point was nice as it would be easier to correct. I started given using a finishing polish on a blue Gloss-It pad, but more cut was needed to remove the swirls and scratches, so stepped up to medium-cut polish on a green Gloss-It polishing pad. This did the job, and then it was finished using the finishing polish again on a Gloss-It blue pad. IPA wiped to inspect afterwards. This was the typical damage under a Led Lenser P7: And some polishing was done(by me): Which gave us this: A pretty nice blueish flake and sharp reflections. After the IPA wipedown it was given a layer of Collinites 476s. Here some after photos: In my backyard: At a motorcycle meet: The owner is very happy with the outcome. Got a few comments on the finish at the meet, and was asked by a few to detail their bikes too. No photos in the sun, the weather has been quite bad lately here in Denmark.
