what do you guys and gals think of this and is it worth the expense? my trim is starting to fade but its not bad also can it be used on grey colored trim pieces?
It works and lasts quite a while, but if you want a permanent solution, try the Leatherique Black bumper dye. and yes it can be used on grey pieces
It's good stuff. But as 911 said, it's seriously overpriced. Just to give you an example, Justin was recently running a sale on it for $14.95 a bottle. It typically sells for about $25. Which leads me to believe that the markup on this stuff is very, very high. I also find it fiddly to work with. It's true what they say, that you only need to use a small amount. But not using the right amount leaves stuff looking kind of blotchy. And if you get it on glass - like when you're applying it to the windshield cowling - you're in for a lot of work getting it all off. I don't care what they say, it's not the easiest stuff to remove. I've come to like Stoner's Trim Shine a lot better than this stuff. Seems to work just as well, and comes in an aerosol can. It's also really easy to remove from paintwork and glass. My latest trick is to apply it *before* I wash a car. This way, the wash removes overspray, and the black trim still comes out looking like new. Stoner's Trim Shine can be a little tough to find - I've been buying it at the local Honda dealer. They were closing it out at $4.91/can, so I bought 5 cans of the stuff. Great on fender wells too.
I found Stoner's Trim Shine at OReilly's for about 5 bucks a can. I also just bought 2 bottles of Black Wow (one for me, one for a gift) from Justin while it was on sale. Haven't tried it out yet.
It works great and is definitely worth the expense if you have just the right technique. It seems to last longer than most of the stuff I've used in the past including Stoner's and Poorboy's. Guess I'll have to do another comparison test for myself yet again to see which one holds up best.
It doesnt last as long as the claims on the bottle. Not a bad product but any tire gel or spray can do the same thing.
I always had a problem with evenness and excess on larger bumpers. I think I applied too much, but I suppose I should have went back over and buffed with a towel. I applied it before the regular wash and cleansed the plastic panels with ARO.
I've been using Forever Black and It can be tricky. It you get to much on the applicator then you have to deal with tiny bubbles. You need to get rid of them to have a uniform application. Also you can't even use it on hot sufaces as it dries very fast anyway. When the bottle gets low. It's very hard to get the Wow out of the bottle. I have a 1999 Wrangler and the fender flares were turning gray. After a lesson learned on the first bottle. I cut opened my second bottle put it into a larger disposable container and used a foam brush. I couldn't believe the difference. It went on like I was a pro and it looked beautiful. That day I applied three coats to my fender flares during the coarse of the day and they looked brand new. I did this last Memorial day weekend and to this day they still look the same. I was very happy that I found out this little secret. For the price of two bottles I have a nice looking Jeep again. Please keep in mind that Forever Black does have limitations. My mom has a 1999 Honda CR-V and the trim was really bad. Over the coarse of the summer I put six coats on and then after that. I still was suprised how much better it looked. I will continue to use Forever Black. It's cheap and it works for me...:thumb:
Never had problems on any plastic trim I encountered. It lasted about 6 months on a daily that outside 24/7 in the California sun... I prolly have good luck since I got this one from Richard Lin himself! lol :giggle:
can you guys suggest an alternative for trim since i agree its overpriced. I'm trying to put an order together from eshine so looking for a good trim product that they carry.
I like Poorboys Trim Restorer. It makes the trim look the same way it came from the factory. It lasts a 2-3 washes.
Like previously mentioned, Stoner's Trim Shine and Poorboy's World Trim Restorer work decently well. It's among my arsenal along with Black WOW.
Hey H, What to you do or how do you keep up with it. Do you actually take the time after 2 - 3 washes to reapply...Whats your secret...:thumb:

Used Black Wow, and like it, just have to be careful when applying. I don't know of any other product that you use so little to get the results you need.
One thing in defense of Black Wow - while it's certainly expensive, a little bit definitely goes a long way. I think I've used it on four or five cars by now, and I've hardly made a dent in the bottle. So I guess maybe it's not so bad after all.
