Meh not really. The block is strong the bottom end not so much. The LS2 oiling system is notoriously bad. The crank of all things is the last to see oil. If you check out TBSSowners.com theres a bunch of people that have spun #6 rod bearing. From what I have read a good oil pump helps a lot in preventing spun bearings. The rest of the motor is decent if although noisey. My motor is rediculously noisey at start up with piston slap. A typical prob for LS2's because of the short skirts on the pistons. I had the dealer check it out twice and they said "It's a racing motor so it will be noisey:wall:".
The cam is being designed specifically for an Eaton blower. I won't see huge gains vs an NA cam, but I'll still see nice gains. I'm going to add a bigger diff cover and some new half shafts to car as well. I'm going to be running slicks at the drag strip this year. I need to minimize the potential for breaking something when the car finally hooks...LOL
Today has been a painful day. I ordered head and main studs, all of the bearings, new pushrods, new cam bolts, and a DashHawk. I'm waiting to hear back about a clutch, head gaskets, and a rear main seal. All of the parts that were ordered today will be here by the end of the week so you'll be seeing pictures of those parts shortly.
Not all that worried about GIR. I rented the track in Benton, IL on May 30th. It's gotta be ready to run by then. What saddens me is that when I look at how much I've spent so far I'm like I could have bought so many detailing supplies that I'd be set for a VERY long time...LOL
Only thing I like about GIR is the road course. I didn't even know there was a track in Benton, IL. C'mon, you know go-fast goodies > detailing supplies!
Look what showed up today: The tracking number for my cam says it will be here in the morning.:applause2:
Darned FedEx rescheduled delivery of my cam. That's okay though. The cam will be here Monday and my clutch will be here Tuesday. Yesterday I gave my builder the head studs and main studs. The block will be sent off to have the main studs installed Monday. That means that in about a week or so we'll start assembling the motor.:applause2: It looks like my goal of having the car back on the road by St. Patrick's Day (also my son's birthday) will be met.:claping:
So I'm sitting here waiting for the FedEx guy to show up because I'm expecting my cam to be delivered today. Well when the knock at the door came imagine my surprise when I saw the UPS guy instead of the FedEx guy. UPS dropped these off today: I don't think they'll be this dusty for long. P.S. Don't fret too much you clean freaks. Once the parts are gone I'm cleaning the carpet...LOL Talk about timing. Roughly 15 minute ago Fedex dropped off my cam and the rest of my spring kit.
Sweet! Do I get to go for a ride when it's done? Looks like I won't be able to keep up with my 02 WS6.
I cant believe i missed this thread... I always love build-up threads! Cant wait to see some video of it coming to life....with the Blower.
