Thanks Dave I gonna have to give this a try. I picked up the Opticoat 2.0 from Phil at the Detail Clinic to use on the Wifes Pacifica. I may try this out on My DD (Mazda 3)

Phil. what's the eta on the red bottle? Is the application method the same for it? And do you know how much yet?

I didn't have any real plans to bring in both as many pro users are only using the black bottle right now.

I'm doing some random testing on the red bottle right now.

Let's say 2-4 weeks if we do bring it in.

I might be able to do both for under $100.

I'm speaking to aquartz now to see how much the red + black will give in terms of durability.

Aquartz is not Opti coat. And I have also been using both. I Did a car in November last year http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/show-shine/20884-peugeot-307-cc-meets-menzerna-aquartz.htm
and he was going to sell it so I did a small touch up one month ago and I would say that Aquartz was gone - lack of gloss, no surface tension (ie beading or sheeting) and it was a little tough to clean.

I have the Aquartz premium that I will give a go. My favourite is OC but I also like Echelon Coating FE-1043.

It seems to me that the debate between Opti Coat and Aquartz is this, and this is just my opinion....

Opti Coat - industry standard, very very log lasting, doesnt fade. It also doesnt feel slick, does not bead water well and does not SERIOUSLY help reduce marring but aids in that area just a little bit.

Aquartz - Not as permanent as OC, prone to fade after longer periods of time but its hardness does help prevent marring better than OC. Application also seems a little easier.

Would you guys agree with the above? So my question to you is simply, what is more important to you? For me the reduction of swirls and marring is key.... if I can feel comfortable letting my customers wash their cars regularly without inducing swirls as easily as they would with a different product, than thats what im all for. As for my own jet black car, keeping swirls off is my number 1 goal right now.

On the contrary, like I said I have had Opti coat on my car since October and Im very impressed by how its held up through all the abuse I put it through during the winter.

Now if I get a chance to use the Aquartz premium which improves the hardness of the Aquartz coating and increase the durability that may be the overall winner as you might get the best of both words, swirl prevention AND durability.

Honestly, I did not see that Aquartz delivered such a hard surface as promised. I have a bottle of Aquartz and Reload premium that I will give a try though.

This is what I have been interested in as well Dave. Let hope that Phil gets Aquartz Titanium Premium to be able to do this, application looks easy

For me, it's more the swirl protection that I'm concerned about than anything. I'll have my GTI with me at college for the next four years, and I don't want it to look like crap by the end of that time. I'm mostly worried about swirls--people bumping and rubbing against it getting in and out of it while it's dirty, tree sap and stuff like that. I could deal with re-applying it a bit more often if it provided more protection from that.

And I'm sure there's an answer to this and I just haven't read it yet...by why could you not apply some sort of a wax over Aquartz or Opti-Coat?

Used Aquartz today on my truck, and I have used Cquartz on 5 cars and Aquartz blows it away for ease of use........not even close.

Run don't walk to Phil to get some aka "Get it with the quickness". Literally applied it my truck after proper prep(polish/ipa/vinegar) in 10 minutes.....no s**t.

So... I've been away from the site for a minute.

Can someone give me the skinny on what happened now that Aquartz is the real deal and not Carpro?

I get that aquartz is easy, but cquartz isn't hard to apply either. I think they are both very easy to apply. I don't think we should sell cquartz short...

If all things being equal, if they both protect well and pricepoint is similar but the AQuartz saves a lot of time in the application I do not see using CQuartz over AQuartz.

It is interesting as on AQuartz website they say The original distributor ripped off the product??? , if that turns out to be true then the Avi guy is in a world of "Poop" as that is some shady stuff right there, and if someone said I ripped off thier product and I did not I would be in court in a second and yet there is no answer to this claim from AQuartz?? so that sends alarm bells ringing right there, because you have to be "VERY CONFIDENT" to put something like this statement on your website with comparisons on why your product is better and(Chemical make up of the product in comparison to the competitor) just food for thought.

Basically calling out CQuartz for copying AQuartz the "Original" you know the saying.......if you can't beat em , join em or "Copy em" in this case. If I was the guy who owned AQuartz I would be "Double pissed off" and doom would follow...."With the quickness".

While I'm not sure about the background, but I do feel Avi is the original. He was the one that introduced it all on Detailing World, always fantastic customer service, and knew what he was talking about. The other guys, well lets just say customer service is not on par. But who in the world knows the real background story... Avis site sure looks quite a bit more professional too.

whatever works...... I have not placed my order for Aquartz, but I still use Cquartz, it does work regardless of who ripped who off. I do like the fact Aquartz is good to go in a fraction of the time Cquartz is, that too me is a far better product to put on a clients car.
