For me with a pretty high powered desktop I don't see where a laptop would really fit in. All my photoshop/video editing can't really be accomplished very well on that platform. So I was considering a MacBook pro just to cruise around the internet and for just some fun stuff for school and abroad. I will admit it is sorta just like having a big iPhone, but for what it's worth I dont' see it as a bad thing. I mean sure reading articles on my iPhone is ok.. but thats it just ok the screen is just way too small to read for more than a few minutes without frustration. I know for lots of people with just laptops this fits no where and by all means can't take the place of people who only run one device. But those of us with a real desktop, why not? What I am really excited about for the iPad/tablet. The potiential to be a all in one school power machine. Paper books good riddance, waiting in line at the school book store? Gone. Lower prices, great! These are all things I am concerned about as a current college student. Watch the video, and tell me any student wouldn't want this type of machine? I see all the other features, video, music, games as gravy. This is what I want: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/01/05/coursesmart-looks-ahead-at-etextbooks-on-apples-tablet/
And to have a little fun watch this MadTV sketch the "original" iPad. hehehe but seriously watch the other video I posted too. Edit: whoops already linked by someone else above. sorry... funny video though. I'll post this instead.
I feel the same except that instead I would use this for classes, lectures, note taking, reading textbooks etc, but I would still have a laptop around for the reason that I move around a lot and going place to place a laptop is nice to have, and I feel that if someone gets a goo enough laptop they dont need a desktop computer. Overall, its cool, but def. not for everyone.
LOL at some of this stuff. I love the Fox parody. Being an ex Apple employee, I thought I would be all over this. But I was hoping to see a camera on it. Oh well, I bet the next release will have a built in camera. Good job Apple. I can guarantee the Kindle just died. Let's get real about the price. The Kindle is $259. It has a black and white display. It only allows you to view books. The iPad does so much more for $499. I am sure the iPad will be a huge hit.
