Form is EVERYTHING. Stick with that and I promise you'll get results. Plus anyone that knows what there doing just laughs at the guys who are doing cheater reps (lot of weight, but not a full repetition). They only impress themselves.
I workout 4-5 days a week. I like to keep in shape. When I was younger I was really into weightlifting and maxing out. Now I just try to stay in shape. I'm 5'9 and about 185 lbs. The only supplements I take are protein shakes, glutamine, and multivitamins.
Not bad at all. I left off around 390 repping 10 times or more freshman year of college, I haven't lifted heavily since then. Who knows where I'm at.
Just turned 50, I have been training since I was 17. 6'2 270lbs everyone tells me I look 30. I never used steriods and glad now I didn't. Most of the guys from back then all have health problems and most are bald. I still bench over 450 consistantly. Supplements are like the different car products everyone has a favorite and there are scams all over. I found a good protein powder, creatine ,good multiple and pre and intra workput supplements are all you need to build a great body. I believe if you don't use the correct pre-intra and post workout supplements you can't make the proper gains. Nutrition is huge just like prep before a great LSP. I also believe most people don't train properly mainly because of the crap in all the magazines. Train hard on the core movements and make sure you have 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. 270lbs 270 grams of protein.
For preworkout I take IntraXcell ( beta alanine just as important as creatine)from Athletic Edge and presurge from AE. For Intra ( during ) I take intrabolic form AE. I have tried everything and I believe these are the best supplements on the market. Post is a hydrolized whey ( the best absorbing protein ). Actually there is hydrolized whey in intrabolic too. I like muscle milk and monster milk. other than hydrolized whey isolate I have found that propeptide from CNP to be the best protein. I have bee experimenting with a new hydrolized whey isolate called Vectron. When trying to cut up I prefer whey isolates to multispecies proteins.
man i hate reading threads like this, makes me feel like such a slacker. i admire all those that hit the gym regularly. i used to work out, but after 2 herniated discs and a blow knee, i have to be careful. am i one of the only ones on here who did roids? after 7 years of working out i hit the wall, big time. it was years of little to no gains, so i finally went for it. my heaviest i was 325lbs. i never did competition or anything and its been 5 years or more since i set foot in a gym. but my old stats: bench 525 for 3 reps, squat 635 for 10 reps, shrugs 550 for 10 reps, shoulder press 335 for 5 reps. i never did one rep max because i didnt care. i wanted to be strong and didnt care about showing off. i never talked to anyone in the gym, except my wife when she went with me. i ate like a mad man when i was working out, probably attributes to my fatness now LOL. one day i'll go back and start all over again, but i have to take it easy, i'm in my 40's now and things dont heal as fast.
No roids for me. Don't see the purpose in it Jose. I work out to be healthy, steroids aren't healthy.I'm not spending two hours a day, five days a week ,in the gym to be healthy then turn around and put drugs in my system.Sure i'd like to be bigger quicker...but this is a lifestyle. I'm in it for life.I'll reach my goals in time. Plus i'm 185lbs and can bench 315lbs naturally...I'm more proud of that than size.:thumb:
i hear ya, i dont and wont do them anymore. just wondering if any had in the past. and small cycles can be very safe. oh and sine i weigh 290 right now, a bench of 325 would be a push up with a happy meal on my back LOL
I don't think 1 cycle would hurt, but 1 leads to many. Its better to do it right and have permanent muscle gains. You can gain a lot of muscle through hormone manipulation ( controlling insulin through diet )and the the correct pre ,intra and post supplemnts.
well i did work out for 7 years naturally, but nature can only take you so far. once my body hit the wall, it was almost impossible to make gains. even though its been years since i've been to the gym i still have some muscle. although it is more fat than muscle now LOL. but youre right, it becomes an obsession to be big. i would worry if i lost 1/4" off my arms, or calves my chest has always been big and so have my legs so i wasnt too worried about that. i used to ingest about 2gr of protein per pound of body weight and at 325lbs that was over 600grs per day, which is almost impossible to sustain in the long run with out serious other heath complications. i just thank god my wife stood by me and was understanding when i was up at 3am eating.
I couldn't imagine the caloric intake needed to sustain that size, let alone trying to shovel in 600+g of protein everyday. I think I would live in the crapper. lol
LOL come to think of it i was crapping 4-5 times a day. but dont forget, its not what you eat, its what you assimilate. so a lot of protein was in the form of shakes. but you have to eat a good blend of protein, fat, carbs.
I hit the gym twice a week, then go for a nice long bike ride on the weekends. It's hard for me to go to the gym when the weather is nice outside, and I live in Austin, so it's nice 90% of the time. I'm a tad over 6 feet tall, right at about 175 pounds. I also eat what I want, so basically I just work out to not get fat. Because my wife would probably divorce me if I ever did!
Lol! I bet you could have made it through War & Peace in about a week. I agree though, diet is the corner stone for any gain you'll make. It's the most important piece of the puzzle.
