I have started to use my PC7424 for the first time recently. Here are the products I used in case anyone needs to know prior to answering my question: Menzerna Super Intensive Polish on a LC Orange Pad Menzerna PO106FA on a LC White Pad Menzerna PO85RD on a LC Black Pad Now the question. I did this three step process on a Nissan Versa, blue, and it removed all the imprefections in the paint. After I wipe away the polish residue, I use specific super plush microfiber towels listed specifically for this use, I see swirl marks on the hood again. Is this due to me rubbing away the polish residue with the towl or is this me not being able to remove the swirl marks? This is friustrating because before I wipe the residue it seems that I have achieved almost a full correction. Any suggestions?
I'm wiping very shortly after I polish. I'll buff until the polish is lightly hazy/almost transparent and then wiping residue away. Do I need to let the polish residue "cure" for a time before I wipe it away?
sounds like the polish is not fully broken down, or you may be using too much...and may be causing this issue. what speed are you working it on? you do not need to let it cure, but if the panel is heated up the paint may still be rather warm and this also could be causing it.
I'm using speed 4 usually. I may be over-using the polish, I make an X across the pad, but I try not to over-do it. I try and work the polish until it is almost non-existant but that may be the issue.
With the PC and those polishes, you only need to use two or three pea sized drops of polish. Making an x on the pad every time you start a new section is way too much polish. With the machine off, spread the polish over the 2'x2' area you are going to work on. Set the machine to 5 and turn it on. Go up and down and then side to side, overlapping your passes by 30 -50% until the polish is broken down.
It sounds like you haven't removed the swirls with 106. What size pads are you using? If you are using 6" pads with a PC, that explains why you still have swirls.
the easiest way to tell is wipe super gently in 1 direction if you see "swirls" or fine scratches in a pattern different then what you wiped then you know they where there prior to your polishing. if the swirls are super fine in circular pattern but with a mostly even pattern then its marring from the previous step. inspect after each step
The PC doesn't have power to be very effective with 6" pads. Try switching to 5 or 5.5" pads. I'd suggest SIP on B&S Yellow, Power Finish on B&S Green and 85RD on B&S Black. 106 and 85rd are so similar that using them both isn't a good use of your time. Power Finish has a bit more cut than 106 and leaves a finish nice enough for jeweling with 85rd.
