Glad to see the photos of this one Ken. Holy Christmas, you weren't kidding. That poor car hasn't led an easy life! Great job on the fix-up, it really looks good. Ken and I chatted briefly about this car on the phone. I wonder if it got used at track days. That kind of wear on the seats could be from a lot of drivers in and out of it. And the brake dust could possibly be explained by a history of track use, esp. with the dust being front biased. And it's been in a body shop at some point. Just a guess on the track days thing.
Thanks guys. I just wanted to show that not every car that I do gets a full correction but there are products available that will make even financially challenged clients happy.
can you layer a sealant or nuba over BHAB? i want to use my GEP + BHAB on the F40 to hide the swirls - dont want to correct this ultra thin solid paint but wouldnt mind layering one of my carnauba's for LSP
I really appreciate posts like this one Ken. There are a lot of people out there that are not interested in a full correction. I would hate to perform a correction on a vehicle that is going to visit the $3 dollar car wash the very next day. Most people that drive DD just want them clean. I always educate the few people I have done vehicles for, but the average person just doesn't care about paint swirls. btw ... I started laughing when you mentioned "financially challenged clients". I wouldn't consider an IS F owner financially challenged, but just plain cheap if he complains about how much a full correction costs ... LOL
Looks great Ken! I am soooo amazed at the filling ability of BHAB..... I have yet to use it to fill... Can you please go into further detail on how you applied, removed, etc.... Thanks!
TBH, I use the thinnest, cheapest applicator pads I have as BHAB is quite thick and makes applying it with a thicker, plusher pad a PITA. I press the applicator pad onto the AB (don't swipe ) to get a thin coat on it and apply in a linear motion. Just do ONE panel at a time. Remove with a short nap towel in a circular motion. Seems to remove it easier than the regular back and forth motion. If any streaking occurs, simply spray panel with tap water and wipe with a plush MF towel.
looking great ken. autobalm never ceases to amaze me. im kinda sorry i sold mine, but i never found myself using it that much. what was the strong wheel cleaner you opted to use on the front wheels?
Some folks claim that you can top Auto Balm with Collinite 845; I've never tried it. JL and I both tried topping it with Vintage, and ended up with these weird cloudy areas for both of us. Anyway, personally, I wouldn't try topping it with a second LSP. It really looks great on its own anyway. But you're on to a great idea - using BHAB on an F40, with its famously thin paint, would be a great move. I'm aware of how thin F40 paint is, and I wouldn't get a buffer anywhere near that thing. :yikes: As you've seen, it fills swirls very well. It's a perfect LSP for an F40, IMO. I don't know anything about GEP, though, so I can't speak to that. Ken probably can. Back to topping BHAB - I use Duragloss Aquawax. AW bumps up the gloss nicely, and works just fine with BHAB. I've been doing this regularly for a while now. It's one of a small handful of looks that gets me compliments from non-detailers. "Your car looks different," that sort of thing. I believe that Ken did the BHAB/AW combo on this Lexus - I know we talked about it over the phone.
