any update on the collectors response to your real detail vs the damage being done to it prior by his "detailer"
He should be back in the country this week, I was planning on touching base with him tomorrow. I will post up when we have met.
it had buffer trails and he said that it never been touched by a buffer ...he know that it been touched .....cheap always trying to get over ..but the out come u did a very good job correcting the the paint !!!!!
Fantastic save there. What a friggen mess that was! Overpriced? You couldn't have charged him too much for that.
Well its pretty simple. I know what my services are worth. I do not care if you own a Bentley, Ferrari, Koenisegg, Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Ford, Toyota, or whatever. I do not care if you make $90,000 a year or live off of a multi million dollar trust fund. The only reason I have ever given customers discounts is when they show Respect, are Courteous, and Loyal. I refuse to bend over backwards for someone because they feel they are more important than everyone else. When in fact they are not, I would rather give someone deserving an absurdly cheap rate, than someone who just demands it because they are used to someone catering to them. My business deals with many collectors, and enthusiasts as you may or may not notice by the write ups I have put on this site. I have been to many of their homes, I am treated as a guest, not as their employee. This is because they understand that I am a professional. I do not need your money, but you however do need my service. When you go to Best Buy to get a new DVD you are going there because you can not create this DVD yourself. You are not going because Best Buy needs your money. In the end this is a free market. I do not have to accept someones business simply because they want to bring their business to me. Just like you do not have to bring your business to me even if I want you to. There are other detailers in the area who would be more than willing to meet this guys price range. I told him there was chance of me doing so.
Ahh... just curious if it was a bigger issue than that... but if he is just a cheap ass... easy enough to understand...
Not just a cheap-ass. Sounds like a rather arrogant pr*ck to me. Good move turning down any future business. As you said, you don't need it anyway. There are plenty of others who will gladly pay and not bicker.
Sorry to hear about the owner but thanks for giving this beaut the finish it deserves. The old XKE's are up there as one of the three most beautiful cars of all time to me. Love the british racing green too. So if t he arrogant owner wasn't gracious enough to say it, I will - thank you, looks wonderful.
Thanks for the phone call yesterday. After our chat I revisited this thread and looked at the job you did on his Jag. I can honestly say that you sooooo undercharged him for that. A typical case where a guy with money doesn't know what he's looking at so he can't appreciate the work that went into it. Let him take it back to his other guy and move forward to better clients. There is always another one.
