Temps could play a big role, humidity, and just those little variances from person to person...but I do find that funny as well.

That's why I've been looking for an alternative! I am tired of this needy polish!

I think UF with getcha's protocol would make UF take even longer. With PO85RD right now, I can work bigger sections than usual because the speed is so low that I don't have to worry about buffer hop as much. I wouldn't be able to do that if I have to raise it to 1800.

I wouldn't say that UF has a longer working time than 85rd and really don't see the point in moving the rpms up and down. Use pressure at first to work your polish than ease up and work the polish a little and wipe off wet. You have to remember that Uf is a wet polish meaning it needs to be removed wet and not to let it "dry" like 85rd.

Trying to navigate 3M's website is infuriating. I found the products (Extra Cut and Ultrafine), but haven't found a way to buy them on shop3m.com. I guess I'll try and order it from a local auto body supply place.

Thanks for the insight. I'm already trading my PO85RD for some Ultrafine. If it is as great as everyone is saying, I'm never buying PO85RD again haha.

that or just go to detailing.com... you'll save yourself a lot of white hairs

Thats just 3Ms recommendation. Now with UF I usually end up spread/working at 1100 then bumping to 1500 and back down. And results are great. I treat it as a typical finishing polish taking into consideration the surface im working on(1800 rpms on some curvy little bumpers, probably not) and taking into account of what 3M says will yield the best response. I kinda molded it to fit what I was working or using

I think you will find that both will stay in your arsenal. Maybe youre using a bit too much 85RD?

Yeah I think you'll be better off getting it at your local auto body supply place. I myself can get it from my local auto paint distributor. :headbang:

I tried both of them and I noticed that the UF have annoying masking fillers - after 3-5 washes every mask scratches are come to light, and this is awful. I choosed the Menzerna products.

I have never seen that. What pads and hoiw long are you working the product. Once thing you have to remember about Ultrafina it is not made to remove deep holograms or marring. It is for light holograms or marring. In your other steps that is what you are suppose to take care of then Ultrafina comes in to enhance the finish to the next level. This should be done with any type of finishing polish also.

Any time I seem to be having trouble with any Menz product, if I examine what I'm doing, it's usually b/c I have put too much on. Maybe I can trade someone for a bit of UF..I wouldn't mind trying it. But my motto with Menz is "less is more".

I was surprise too. When I saw the car after some washes I thought that my friend damaged the surface himself (maybe by wrong washing method), but I remembered some small scratches from the previous polishing, which I left specially and there were not seen after using UF. I know for sure that they were exactly the same which I left.
I talked to several people who are autodetailing specialist and they confirmed to me this version.

I tried with different pads like 3M, Meguiars, Sonus, LC etc.

    Yeah, I know that.

I use UF to finish the surface before cleaner and LSP.
