Good thing i found this thread as i was going to order the CG BP instead of the 3m.

My old Makita died so I just bought Phil's used Makita and i figured it was time to spring for the real deal, so i just ordered the 3M BP from Phil today also.

Cant wait to get the Makita and 3m BP as sometime i still can get a jerk from the rotary and im hoping this BP can help reduce that.

Glad it it helped you out. I am sure we are going to like them alot... 3M makes top notch products and tools.

Where did you order the 3M M14 backing plate from since your in the states and no one that I know sells them here? I really liked your thread on the Shinex, I am considering it in the future though.

Well I got my 3M Perfect It III Backing plate in its alot softer foam than the CG Evolve4r backing plate so I am sure it will conform to the curves alot better not only that its built much better. Thanks Phil:)

Anybody know where to pick up or order the grey version (which is supposedly even softer than the yellow) of this 3m backing plate?

Does 3m make these grey backing plates in 5/8 thread or are they all M14?

Yeah Danny, I knew about these for a while, but there is very little talk about them since they are even rarer than the 09553 yellow ones.

I'll do some more research to see where these could be ordered (I'm thinking they are all M14, so an adapter would be needed to work with U.S. spec polishers. Don't get me wrong, I love the yellow one I got, just wondering how the grey one is.

I just brought all of these in from the UK ( a few months ago ) and have been going between the three. The white ones are quite soft compared to the 3M and the blue ones are very similar. Unfortunately, Flexipads sent the small white ones in M14, making them virtually useless. :(

They look similar, but they are in fact different. These are quite soft and wee awesome following the contours on a boat I recently did. The top plastic piece is actually recessed into the top of the pad.

I made ken get the first two backing plates. Mine are still going strong, and still my favourite.

Ken, so the white plates are also made by Flexipads? I might pick up a few if I can find a source.
