I always love those detailed post from Nica. Lots of pics! Love it! great job, Carlos! It reminds me, it's been a while since I detailed my daily driver...hmm...
Great job Nica! Is it hard detailing the interior of those things since you have to make sure not to get any of the buttons or switches out of position? I know it never fails that when I do an interior I inadvertantly hit the headlight or windshield wiper switch.
Beyond aweseom. I don't know how you do it all in a day. It seems to me I could spend a day just on one side of that monster!
Thank you FMINUS, glad you enjoyed it buddy :thumb: Well Mike was supposed to come and give me a hand but the truck wasen't ready for us and Mike had school to go too so I had to do it by my self, no biggie it just took longer that's all. That's one thing I've learned, it dosen't matter how big the vehicle is anymore it all comes down to spending the appropriate amount of time. I've done a few trucks now so I know have the process down...man the first truck I did was a bit smaller then this one and it took me over 25hrs for me to do but I was scrambling all over the place didn't know where to start. Now the process just flows and I devide the truck in to sections and just keep going. lol...that's always my fear with these trucks, since I never know what size of truck I'm getting I always have to pack a few extra things. That's what I order in multiples too and same went for DG :thumb: Yea it was about 12hrs by the time I was all done, took a bit longer then usual but like I said that was none stop full out...boy was I thursty when I was done, this truck made me sweat but I had fun...it didn't help that I kept coughing up a lung here and there lol. As to driving these things they look like fun but I like the light show these things can put on :woo: :woo: Thank you er1k, glad you enjoyed it. The Swissvax interior brush is the same as the wheel brush. I just have a bunch of them and I've now designated some strictly for interior and some for exterior (ie. rims, engine..ect..ect..) So it's the same brush really. Detailers Domain has a bunch of these brushes, heck out his site or just shoot Detailersdomain a PM and he will get you some :thumb: Thank you pirex, glad you enjoyed it my friend. Yea I was feeling it on the way home, couldn't stop caughing for a couple of minuets  oh but the pasion to detailing is to big, no rain or snow or flue will stop me from detailing :wicked:
Thank you trhland, glad you enjoyed it. To date I've only given one one fire truck the full treatment and to be honest they aren't that difficult to polish off, here is the one that I did a full treatment on: http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f47/2005-international-rescue-fire-truck-17.html The thing I noticed was that the back end of the truck seems to be single stage paint and the frunt has clear coat. The seem to have abit of a tough clear coat too but nothing that Menzerna can't handle :thumb: The thing with these trucks is that yes they are big and to be honest (this is just me though) you have to tackle these things with the right mentality, well this is just like anything in life...again just my opinion. But if you come in to a detail thinking it's to big and you can't do it well you wont be able to do it but tackle a detail with positive thoughts and enthusiasm and good things happen...I don't know that's just me though. So for me size don't matter any more and I'm not saying that to brag or anything like that, I've detailed some small sport vehicles and they take longer then these trucks...but the point is that it all comes down to paying attention to details that's all. We all do it, that's why we call our selves detailers :thumb: so if I can do a fire truck any one can do it  Lol..fireman Carlos that's funny thank you Gary glad you enjoyed it my friend :thumb: I agree though these trucks sure look great at the end :druling: Thank you Pats glad you enjoyed it :thumb: Thank you jake, glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the feed back eace: Thank you dengood, thing is that I hardly ever get sick but boy when I get sick I get sick. Just on the weekend I washed the Lexus and the plan was to use Divine on it but all that getting wet and what not must have made it worse for me because I started shivering, had a fever..lol..a fever..I had forgoten what fevers felt like lol. Any who, I managed to finish washing the Lexus but had to crawl back to bed and it all went down hill from there...two days with fever :shakehead: now all I got is that cough...but other then that I can just about see the end to this flu...I hope :beging: Thank you Al, glad you enjoyed it and yes this DG combo works great all thanks to you, my home boy Sparkie and richy all of you guys convinced me to use DG and glad I did. 105 on the truck looks great best part is that the owner of the shop has seen DG on his vehicles and since then he always tells me to put DG :thumb: Thank you RessECU, glad you enjoyed it. On the aluminum pieces I only put 105, I don't think I have 501...my knowledge on DG is very limited only what Al, Sparkie and richy recomended me to use I used. I know DG has other products but I haven't ventured out to on them that much just yet. I'm sure in the near future I will though :thumb: Thank you RTexas, it took a wile but I got it done glad you enjoyed it :thumb: Thank you littlemissGTO, it takes time but it can be done, size don't mean anything just take it one step at a time :thumb:
Thank you joe :chest: Glad you enjoye dit supercharged :thumb: yea I'm bad at detailing my own vehicles too specially my daily driver  Thank you P1et, glad you enjoyed it my friend :thumb: Thank you Wolf, as for the interior. Yes, that's something I learned very fast on these trucks is to try not to touch to many buttons. I was shown where the main button is though and that is the battery button, the guys at the shop usually have it on the off position and it's not really accessible like the other buttons so that's the one I always check first to make sure it's off then I don't have to worry about the other buttons too much. But yes, as much as I'd love to press and go nutson the buttons and levers I honestly can't becuase I have no clue what they do. So it's the Swissvax brush and carefully wiping them. Takes a bit of time but in general not to bad at all. Thank you Scott, glad you enjoyed it my friend :thumb: Thank you reefer, to be honest I'm quite fortunet that these trucks are brand new. So the all the crome peaces just need a nice wash, the odd times I have to give the crome peaces/checker plated areas individual time but for the most part the wash takes care of them...but again that's becuase they are brand new. But yes lots of little things to watch out for. I've done a few now so I have a process that gets me through these big boys :thumb:
Another big rig! wow it looks great. Those buttons look like an arcade game. And you had the flu. I think I would just drop dead before a detail if I had the flu . I still like how you captured the spray droplets coming out of the sprayers, which reminds me I forgot to watch the new episode of Myth Busters .
Carlos..great job as usual, my friend!! I totally agree with your theory on the size..it's all relative. What you've got going for you of course is the size of the shop to work in...I'd be euchered trying to fit that sucker in my garage at the house!! LOL
Great job as always, I like to see these posts again. I know you said you recently change your DI resin, so about how much water have you run through it to get the TDS reading @ 1? I understand you use the CR for the entire wash, but just curious.
Yea the buttons sure are tempting specially the big red/black/blue marshoom buttons :lol2: Glad you enjoyed it klumz :thumb:  yup the bigger they are the better they look :thumb: lol I agree I'm glad they let me detail these big rigs are there shop, no way I can make this bad boy fit in my garage either richy lol. Thank you for the kind words richy very much appreciated :thumb: Thank you trl and glad you enjoyed it. As for the CR unit, I replaced the resins on the weekend (March 29) and I washed my Lexus, of course a generous wash and used all but the best on my baby :thumb: The PPM level was actually 0, I know the picture show's 1 but water wasen't flowing just yet on the filter and once water starts flowing the CR unit adjusts it's self. I can usually do about 4 to 5 fire trucks (varous sizes) with out having to change the resins. As to how much water I use per truck...um...:shead: :shead: I honestly don't know exactly how much water but all I can say it lots of it that's for sure.
Carlos as you noted you must have the process down very well to get them down in 10 hours and still take all of those process pics. Great job!
 yup, the first oooohhhh...I don't know 7 were painfull lol after that the body got used to the gruling details lol. No seriously, one thing I've notised about detailing is that the more you detail the more stamina you build up. Like I said the first fire truck I did was a bit smaller then this one and it took me a really long time, I literaly left skin on the first truck oh I was hurting that day...I still remember it and it was about a year or so ago lol. Thank you Tonya glad you enjoyed it :hippie:
Thank you Woob :thumb: um...excuse the ignorant question but what do you mean by pre treating sprayers? Are you refering to the spray bottles I use or if I used any pre-treatment to truck meaning if I used any foam on the truck. Again sorry I'm not sure what your asking here :sorry: Thank you Phil, glad you enjoyed it :thumb: Thank you 02CAMSS glad you enjoyed it and yes I now have the process for these bad boys and I don't deviate from it :thumb:
