Where does this stand? any more clarity around location?
Make sure that once you remove all of the contamination you protect and seal the rims. Could solve the problem going forward.

I would try 3M Adhesive in a small spot first to test. Once you find its ok, this is what Id use. Make sure you wash the areas after your done....
