Well it’s been about two months since I applied my winter protection,we finally got warm enough for rain and no snow so I took some pics of the beading action on my ride… Decided to share

    Process was:
Sealant with acrylic (not yet on market was sent to test)
    DG 105
    Collinite 476 x’s two
Surf City Barrier Reef Nuba (this was applied 4 weeks after previous protection)

After each maint wash I have been using DG AW... I'm not really concerned about my flake being muted in these winter months, I just want to maintain my protecion.

From the looks of these beading shots I am pretty positive my protection will last me well beyond the winter… What do you guys think?

FYI - I go to work 3 days a week and my commute is 120miles round trip....

Mind you, this is AFTER my car has been burried four times like the below pics, and covered with salt for weeks

That is awesome MotorCity! Nice to know that all your hard work paid off huh. I'm really thankful for a mild winter here in NC so I can keep on detailing. Knowing you you have to be going through some major withdrawls!

Hey Wolf.. you have NOOO IDEA how bad my withdrawls have been.. I wont even tell you all what I have used my PC on since the snow has prevented me from working on my paint!!!

And yeah, very reassuring that my regimen is holding up.... from the looks of those tiny, tight beads I am pretty confident it will still be kicking when I strip it down...!!

I dont think pictures of beading have anything to do with protection. I could go out and take pictures of cars that are beading that havent ever seen any type of wax or sealant. What I do think matters is when you see the paint in person and you see how the beads are actually formed. I think that is a sign of protection. But just taking a random picture of beading doesnt mean anything.

You mean like the nice, tight, small, uniform beads in my pic...:joint:

Haha, possibly. It looks like a dusting on the car though.

Sorry but I don't really agree with this. The reason you have beading is because of increased surface tension on a surface. Without some sort of protection or layer on a surface you won't get beading. Also as the LSP wears off you will see that in the lessened amount of surface tension with the beads not being so tight and not nearly as uniform as you see in MotorCity's pic.

The true way if you were anal enough or had the time would be to wax a car and then wet it down and measure the beads and log your measurements and as time passes contiue to measure the beading and as beads get larger or less uniform as a whole you could tell your surface tension is breaking down thus meaning your LSP is wearing off.

Yes it will Jason....he only makes a sealant..a prep polish for it and maybe a paint type cleaner....nothing else....

as you know it is as easy as DG and just as durable....it looks like DG 111 to me...

I did my son's boss's tow truck with it and he loves it...

funny story...when I did the truck I said feel the paint..he set his dunkin donuts cup on the fender and it slid right off...lol...he said I always set my cup on the truck and it never slid off.....

this sealant and DG will be my main stay products this spring....

I just bought a Mytee HP60 extractor this week...and I am going full swing this spring...my son and I ...

all I need is a Flex and I am set...

I dont understand though. How come cars that have never gotten any protection bead? I agree the beads will have a different shape. But I feel that all cars bead whether they have protection or not?

I'm not sure because I have done cars that you can tell have no protection on them at all because I couldn't get water to bead even if I put it on with an eye dropper. You can spray all the water you want on it and not one bead. The water just lays there like a sheet, it doesn't sheet off it just lays there.

I just sprayed a car down that hasnt seen anything in years. The water just stayed there and didnt sheet at all which is expected. I think everyone would agree on that. But eventually some beads did form. Granted they looked like crap and were random, and they only appeared on the side panels. So lets see, my original opinion was that I agreed beading is a sign of protection, just not necessarily in pictures.

I think beading can occur even on cars that dont have any protection. But if you look at the beads in the picture and look at their shape, then you can tell if there is protection on the paint or not. However, I still dont think beading is a very good sign of protection. I think how the water sheets off and the slickness of the paint is a better sign. But beading is a sign of protection, I never disagreed about that; just not the best sign, in my opinion.

Jason, great job on the car, now if you could only get the snow to bead and not lay on the car.

    Ha, that's a great story..

Once after using DG followed uo by AW I wanted to take a picture of the products sitting on my paint.. so I sat the AW on and it slid right off, so I figured I would put a micro fiber under it to help it to stay still, and guess what.. they STILL slid right off.. I ended up having to get the MF moist and then set the products on the MF

    Thanks man..

Yeah, I am still trying to figure out how to do that...:rollinglaugh:

thanks Nica:headbang:, I have never witnessed such tight, small, uniformed beading so long after application... I have OFFICIALLY FOUND my go to winter regimen
