ok been using the pc da for a while now and had a problem this morning, using wolfgang polish and a new white pad, on a 5.5 edge backing plate but the pad wont stay on, it doesn't stick well easily comes of on speed 6, has anyone ever experienced this ? i tried another pad on the backing plate and it sticks great, could i have a bad pad or something wrong with my technique that ruined this pad?
Are you setting the pad in motion before you are touching the panel? If so this is a no-no because although it is velcro....it is velcro, meaning it isnt super glue. You say these pads are new? Dont ask me how i know about setting it in motion before touching the panel haha
i dont think I'm doing that i have never had a pad do this before, ya the pad i used is new but now i think it's toast:mounty:
maybe just a bad apple. do you have more than one white pad? if so, is it doing it with the other white ones or just 1 pad in particular? Also who is the pad made by?
i have others that work fine just pissed me off cause this one was new, they are lake country pads, never had a problem with them before.
Theres almost always a random piece that gets through QC. Just email them about it. Eric @ LC was very understanding when I had my backing plate mishaps
ok guys started on my second new white pad and she is starting to slip as well so it has to be something I'm doing wrong so here is the procedure I'm using spray new pad with pad conditioner apply quarter size amount of wolfgang final glaze spread over panel turn pc on 3 and spread turn machine to 5 and work polish near the end turn to six to burnish wipe off product apply dime size amount of product and repeat process when i turn machine to 6 it seems to bounce and i think that is when the pad begins to slip. help cause this is getting expensive!!!!!
You arent doing anything wrong from what i can tell. Now that it is 2 pads that are coming loose i would think it might be your backing plate that is the culprit. Get a hold of LC like has already been mentioned, let them know you are having a hard time and maybe they can help you out.
i was thinking backing plate but it is only a year old, shows no signs of wear i would expect more from an edge bp.
Try emailing this guy. I talked to him personally countless times over email last year Eric Dunn <eric@lakecountrymfg.com>
ok just to update, eric is gonna send me two new pads but i still think something else may be going on, used one of my old white pads and by the end it had started to slip and upon closer inspection all three are raised in the center(foam side) and cupped in the back, the pad on speed 6 is flopping all over and after a few hours today i am physically tired from it. i use an edge 5 inch bp and lake country 6.5 ccs pads is that the right combo? I'm racking my brain to figure this one out, i have three pads that are basically useless. i took the pad off and turned on the machine and the bp seems to be spinning balanced so i don't know what to do.
Maybe you need a bigger backing plate. A inch and a half hangover is pretty big. It will twist in the middle and probally break loose.
