I understand you tape the edges, etc. when using a machine buffer, but do I tape when working without a machine? I plan on Washing, Claying, Polishing, Sealing, Waxing over a period of 3 days (in the garage).

If I do have to tape, is there a link to how best to tape?

Also, do I just avoid getting close to the pin stripes or is there a technique to work do these properly?

depending on the pin stripes you may or may not want to tape those up. There is no special way to really tape up a vehicle.

If you have rubber trim close to the paint or anything that might blush from the wax/polish you might want to tape that up as it will just make clean up a lot easier on yourself.

Generally though i wouldn't tape up if i was just waxing my hand or something of that nature. You won't have any splatter or be susceptible to burning the edges or anything like that unless you are speedy gonzalez and have the worlds fastest arm.
