    Hi guys,

i've been working for myself now for about 6 years now and i'm using some of the same methods which i was tought back when i worked for a larger company moons ago.

    here is what I do......

    clean paint(pre wash, 2 buckets)

    auto glym synthetic chamois dry

de-tar and clay (maguiars mild clay)

I then work panel to panel with a farecla white sponge buff and g3 compound, I try to keep a close eye on how long i've spent on each panel and try keep it all even and mist often to keep it all nice and lubricated.

I do bumpers and other plastics by hand as I find it too risky otherwise.

I then change pads to a thinner black farecla pad and I get to work with farecla g10 liquid to remove the swirls i've just made etc.

I then coat with a maguiars polish and sealant.

the car does generally look night and day and i've never had any disappointed clients however,

I was just wondering 2 things guys.......

    1. is it imperative I buy a depth gauge or what ever they're called(if so can you recommend) I think one may be happy because sometimes I don't know if the car has been worked on before or if it's had spray work done to it(well obv 8 times out of ten i'll notice)

    2. is there anything you think I should be doing different.

thanks guys, i look forward to finding out what you have to say.
