Hey DB! First off I want to apologize for being absent for a while recently, it feels like my school work has been never ending this semester and have been super busy. I have a number of product tests coming up and I also will be ordering some new stuff to play with soon enough so I hope to get those posted when I get the time. I recently bought a set of forged Rays wheels for my 370z along with a set of spacers for an unbelievable price from a friend. When I first got them, they were really rough in terms of being heavily caked in dirt and there was so much old tire shine that I couldn't see much of the raised lettering on the tire side wall! The faces of the wheels came up very well after polishing with the PC and sealing them, the tires came clean after 4 rounds per wheel with a stiff bristled brush and 1:1 OPC, but the barrels are giving me a very hard time. While they are clean to the touch, they have a dark staining that I cannot get rid of even after: -scrubbing with a medium bristled brush and a soaking of OPC -Chemical paint cleanser -AIO products -Even Megs 105 by hand It seems as if certain areas spot cleaned and while tar remover works, it takes many passes to even partly lessen the visual severity of the staining (as seen below in the pictures). My next step is to buy an acid based wheel cleaner, but I wanted to see what you all think I should try. Do you have any recommendations on what my next step should be? Thanks in advance!
Christian, I would suggest some WB. If that doesn't work, I don't know. M105 by hand is a powerful tool to use on them. Either that or some Flash Brown Royal. Good luck with it.
Thanks Richy, I couldn't believe I was not able to even diminish the staining with M105 and a cutting pad which was my last resort at the time. I will also get some WB, just need to find a place that sells it in sizes under a gallon! Hey Avi, I still have some IronX samples at home and can't believe I forgot to try them. I will give them a go, also I am going to order some Reload and IronX from Phil soon as I need some of each. The one coat of Cquartz is still going strong after 6 months btw!
Check ADS (autodetailsolutions), I know they sell it in a 32oz sample bottle, thats the only place I know of the has a small sample, other than getting off a fellow member.
Thanks for that, I will order it up tomorrow. I will update the thread with any results I attain next weekend, thanks for all the help!
I just got my shipment in from DD and ADS, that includes some WB so I will give that a go next time I am at home. Thanks Erik!
I am looking forward to the update Christian. If IronX gets rid of that on its own, that will impress the Hell out of me!!
