I just wanna make sure, my customer im doing tomorrow has these wheels: American Racing: Official Manufacturer Website- custom, chrome, polished and painted wheels I don't like to second guess myself, but i wanna make sure im doing the right thing!!
As long as you don't have too strong a mix and don't let it sit on the rims too long, you should be fine. To be sure just add some more water to the current mix or just try regular soap first if they are not too dirty. I use about 3:1 mix myself for most "trouble" rims, but you should be 6:1+ for polished rims.(maybe as high as 10:1). Check the condition of the rims first, then try soap first, then weak mix if there is still caked on brake residue. I would then polish them during your final "clean up" of the car. Good luck!
I've never experienced any negative side effects as long as I've been working on one wheel at a time and thoroughly rinsing the wheel.
3 of the wheels are "BAD", and one of the wheels are brand new and totally looks stupid with 3 dirty nasty wheels. I use wheel-brite 4:1
