All 4 wheels of this BMW 330 have this same baked on brake dust/road tar in between the spokes. I cant get it off and so far I have tried everything I have with an assortment of wheel brushes.

    -Clay
    -Megs safe-d (3:1)
    -p21s gel
    - AG intensive tar remover

Nothings is working, I was thinking mothers power ball because its a tough area to get into, any suggestions.

Try a paint cleaner or polish.

If that doesn't work, maybe Meguiar's Wheel Brightener.

It almost looks like it's pitted into the finish. Can you feel it with a fingernail as being raised?

Could be, but after several attemps with AG intensive tar remover nothing came off.

That is baked on brake dust. Try an acid based wheel cleaner. Brake dust is basically metal particles and Acid breaks down metals. Thats why these types of wheel cleaners work soo well. You're wheels are painted so it should be safe, just thoroughly rinse and even give it a quick one with some regular soap afterwards.

Meguiars Wheel Brightner, Poorboys Spray and Rinse, I know chemical guys makes one, and even Meguiars Hot Rims is Acid based (although light).

If not, try some aggressive clay.

Powerball with some AIO should work. If not, try one of the acid based cleaners.

I called Meg's the other day. They said as long as the rims are not scratched, pitted or anything where the acid would get under the clear you should be fine. I talked to a few member about the brightner. They all say make sure you rinse very well!!
    Good luck!:headbang:

I just ordered Megs WB and their agressive clay, hoping it will help on the really bad wheel jobs. Im not sure of which dulition to use for the WB. I guess I will fill one bottle 10:1 and another maybe 4 or 5:1 for the really dirty wheels, is this safe? Any delicate or coated finish wheels will get p21s instead.

Sounds like a job for Meg's Wheel Brightener but be very carfull with this stuff, it's really strong. I've only used it once and may it's strong...to be honest I don't like using it but if you have no choice well you have no choice. I used Wheel Brightener diluted 4:1.

Keep us posted oh how you make out.

The use of an acid based wheel cleaner makes me nervous but I know there is times when I will need it, like on those bmw wheels. I have already gone through a lot of p21s gel and that stuff is expensive! Hows stoners tarminator for tar spots?
