It seems that a lot of people are using grout sponges from HD or Lowe's, and just wondering anyone's thoughts on car wash sponges from Walmart. It claims to be clear-coat safe, etc...

I like Adams and chemical Guys wash pads. Main thing is that you clean them after your wash your car so there is not jumk in them when it comes time to use them again.

It varies....but I use the SV Wash Mit, and nice plush mit that DD sells.

To be honest, the one phil sells is my favorite.

Uber Wash Sponge is my favorite for car washes, Shmitt Wash Mitt is a close second.

For ONR washes, I love my microfiber "noodle" wash mitts.

I used to use the Shmitt, but they seperated so quickly. The shape is also a bit awkward, and it's easy to miss spots.

I used the Zymol sponges for a bit, but found them to flatten too quickly. So I tried Phil's Uber sponge and found it to be a bit smaller than the Zymol sponge, and it holds more water and does go flat like the Zymol sponge.

So the Uber sponge it is for me. Cheap too.

I have the grout sponges, MF mitts, chenelle mitts, MF foam and the Shmitt.

I like the MF mitt for ONR, Chenelle, Shmitt and grout sponge hold soap fairly nicely.

Looking forward to ordering the Uber Sponge.

    I use the uber

Sometimes the uber gets a bad rep, its meant for cleaning a well maintained vehicle. It not aggresive and pampers your finish

I like my DI sheep skin mitt after I wash with it I fill up my sink half ways with clean hot water and let it float in there, any particles that were still in it after rinsing fall right out.

this is something ive been experimenting with ever since i got my first car 10 years ago

ive used wool/sheepskin mits, mf mits, foam sponges, sea sponges, schmidts .....everything

and ive gone back to using regular rectangle foam sponges. Mitts i found trap dirt and never clean out fully - back into a solid black car in May and after first wash what i thought was an impeccably clean and maintained MF mitt put fine scratches in the paint (lucky i hadnt corrected it yet). So i switched back to a foam sponge

the advantage is i buy them locally cheap, like under $2, so i just throw them out every couple months. I soak them in hot water before use to soften them up

ive also been experimenting with wheel sponges, and atm am using a 3 finger wool mitt from rubbishboys. I like it for ease of use but its wool dramas all over again with the pungent smell despite cleaning it out well after use. So looks like ill be back to using an MF mitt on wheels

id like to give the uber sponge a go, i should have added a few to my last order.....bummer

agreed and not to mention, the (grout) sponge (both lowes and HD work pretty well) rinse out easy and are very pliable too (the lowes more so). can't beat it for $2, and not to mention you can delegate them to wheels once they start falling apart...

Thanks everybody! Just to confirm, are these the ones that everyone has been mentioning:

    Home Depot Sponge

    Lowes Sponge

    Uber Yellow

And also to confirm, are most people recommending the sponge for traditional washes, and not ONR washes? For ONR I'm better to stick with a MF mitt, noodle mitt or wash pad?

    Thanks again!

Thanks. That's actually the one I was originally looking at, not sure why I grabbed the link for the 'easy grip' version...

    Thanks again!

I've been using the Schmitt lately and I like it, however the odd shape does make it hard to ensure you get every spot. For example on my Avalanche the rear tailgate has a portion where the handle is that is difficult to reach into with the schmitt. So I end up having to go back over it or ensure I get it the 1st time around.

I am considering changing it up.
