    Hi,

I'm in need of a hologram/swirl spotter and I have been looking at the Fenix lights.. The 3M Sun Gun is just too expensive for my use, as I'm no pro and detailing is only a hobby.

I'm considering these 3 torches at the moment:

    Fenix TK11: Fenix TK11 18650 Torch - FenixTorch.co.uk

    Fenix PD30: Fenix PD30 Premium LED Flashlight - FenixTorch.co.uk

    Fenix TK40: Fenix TK40 Cree MC-E LED Flashlight - FenixTorch.co.uk

    My thoughts:

The TK11 and the PD30 are quite a bit cheaper than the TK40, but the TK40 is the most powerful light in the Fenix product line(it's 630 lumens in the highest mode). It's also bigger than the other two, but it really doesn't matter, as it's not meant for hiking;) So, the only issue would be the price I think.. Battery-wise the TK40 is using eight 1.5V AA batteries, so it's actually possible to buy them in most shops.. Unlike the 18650 or CR123A's..

The TK11 is rated at 225 lumens and it's capable of using a 18650 battery, which makes it run for a bit longer than on two CR123A batteries.. This is where the PD30 comes in, as it runs on two CR123A's. At it's maximum at 220 lumens it lasts for 1.5 hours.
I haven’t used powerful torches to check my work before, so I don’t know if it’s an advantage to use the TK40’s performance at 630 lumens – isn’t it too bright? 630 lumens is quite a bit, but if it’s useless in detailing it would be like throwing my money out the window…
I have heard people saying that they don’t run their TK10s/TK11s on Turbo Mode(maximum) at 225 lumens as it is too bright, but don’t know if it is BS..
I would be very happy if you could help me decide the right torch for my use.
So, TK11, PD30 or TK40? Any thoughts and useful recommendations are welcome, just remember that I’m from Denmark, so I don’t have access to places like Sears and Wall Mart etc.

    Kind regards,

    Ebbe Jørgensen
