Just bought a PC 7242 and I need to know what I need to get started. What do you guys suggest I buy in terms of size backing plates and number of foam pads? My research has so far got me to either 4" or 5" backing plate for polishing and a 6" backing plate for LSP. Is this correct? What do you suggest for polishing with the 7424 4" or 5"? How many foam pads do you guys use per process? So how many pads will I need for say polishing and how many pads will I need for the LSP?
Hey bud. The kit I sell comes with 2-5.5" orange pads ( for deeper scratches ) 2-5.5" green pads ( for polishing ) and 2 - 5.5" black pads ( for jewelling ) and a 5" backing plate. It also includes a 3.5" backing plate and 1 - 4" orange and 1 - 4" green. You can add 5.5" gold pads for LSP application. You'll only need one for LSP application. Hope this helps.
If you intend to fix more than little scratches or details a car with small areas, you will need the 3.5" plates. The larger ones are great for the big panels, but the smaller ones make spot corrections much easier.
