i thought PTG measures the paint thickness on top of the metal. Someone else is saying that it measures metal AND paint.
If I'm not mistaken the more correct term for these instruments would be Coating Thickness Gauges. Thus they measure the amount of a coating over a metal either ferrous or non-ferrous. So I think it only measures the amount of paint.
ya that is what i thought, but there is this guy on another forum arguing with me that i dont know how to use my PTG, and that its measuring metal AND paint.
Huh, that's interesting can't say that I've ever heard that....but the paint gauges read surface only no the metal....but that's what I know :shrug:
