I detailed a vehicle today, on exterior i used Wet Diamond Paint Sealant using a polishing pal with 4" black pad, I have used it a few times in the past on different color of paint, been using Power lock latley and like that too, today was a ford crown victoria in biege color, was impressed of the out come of shine if left on paint, applied thin layer to whole vehicle including glass, dressed the tires and engine plastic with silk shine dressing, about 25 mins went by and then removed with several micro towels, the ease of removing the product was great, temps were 74 outside partly cloudy, with some sun, when done very nice finish it left, then to see the sheeting action used open end hose water low and made few passes on hood and water just ran off of surface. I like Power Lock also so how would you guys compare each one to another? so hard for me to tell the difference. Product went on with ease and off with no effort, maybe get 4 months protection from it, customer liked the look of it too very pleased. Power Lock I used on a silver toyota truck other day and it looked fantastic too.:shead:

I find Powerlock leaves a bit deeper finish, especially on darker colours. Apply it on black and then look at it the next day. Amazing. Blackfire is a bit "brighter".

I have both and I actually like them equally the same, both are very easy to apply and remove and leave a nice deep and slick finish especially to a black vehicle. The only thing I have noticed is that Wet Diamond lasts a bit longer than Powerlock, but I am sure it has to due with the fact that Wet Diamond has Polycharger in it.

On my Dakota, I liked Powerlock over BFWD. It made it glossier and wetter looking. The BFWD had a more complex look (less dark). I like darker on solid colors.

Odd little question here: are sealants not supposed to be in contact with water/humidity for 12-24 hours after application/removal?

I think one of the new nano products is like that Joey but regular sealants are fine.

BFWD looks better on solid white versus powerlock........

from what i hear they are pretty much the same product just menzerna added some gloss enhancers to bfwd.they are both awesome products.
btw in case some might not know, menzerna makes blackfire products.

Menzerna makes SOME BlackFire products, including the Compound and Polish. Not the sealant however. (Or so I've read online)

2 different names same company.bf likes to use their own name on their products to separate the two but owned by menzerna...kind of like how honda owns acura.they have their own traits to them but their core/idea is the same...its very hard to find info online but search around and you can find more info about it...
either way they are both really good products with their own twist to them.

Either you'd have protection forever, or it will peel the paint off.
Let me know how it turns out will you?

So Proper Auto Care was part of Menzerna? And Palm Beach Motoring bought the rights from Menzerna?

No, Proper Auto Care was not part of Menzerna. PAC was started by Terry and Jan Freiling I believe ( along with another partner ) and they eventually sold out to Lake Country. When PAC closed down, Palm Beach Motoring purchased the rights to the Blackfire Line which was owned by PAC. Blackfire was PAC's house brand.

Jack was the last owner of PAC. I cant remember his last name.
There were a lot of posts regarding how Classic Motoring Accessories, the company that the Freibergs owned, worked out a deal with Menzerna and used some of their products to make some producs under the BlackFire line.
Then one day, Jack announced that PAC was closing down and dang if they did !

Now, a few of the guys who worked at PAC are now at AutopiaForums.com. Todd and Angelo for sure are there, there might be others. This company has resurrected the BlackFire line again and are going to roll out some new products in January, next month.

BlackFire Wet Diamond has been around for years, and it was always good but didnt last very long until they put Polycharger in it. That gave it some longevity, but still its not going to last all Winter or anything.

Menzerna PowerLock came along a couple years ago I think, and it seemed to have more longevity than BFWD, so most people started using it. It is also a really nice product, very easy to apply and remove. Its been compared to BFWD and vice-versa for awhile.

I like it more than BFWD for longevity for my Clients. But BFWD seems to have oils in it and it really turns paint very shiny - but it wont last as long as I, repeat, I want it to.
    Your mileage may differ.. :)

This time lag is exactly why Zaino was finally tuned to be able to dry 3 layers of either Z2 or Z5 in a few hours vs 12/24 hours between coats. They came up with a little tiny bottle of blue liquid and you mixed so many drops per oz and it dried the zaino layer really fast. If you left any remaining liquid in the bottle too long, it would harden up so hard that you would just have to throw the bottle away, you would not be able to remove it once it hardened up.

Its really a great product that will go a long time too between applications. Sal Zaino was way ahead of his time when he and his company invented this stuff ! :) I think he had this stuff going at least 10 years ago, maybe longer.. yeah, I am sure he had it 10 years ago..

Yeah the z5, is an awesome product I remember using it on my personal car, i just would keep layering it and layering it, i think I had like 12 layers or something stupid like that...

Right now i'm testing out the BFWD and BFMS combo and it seems to be doing well. I applied one coat of each at thanksgiving and I am not touching it until i see if has worn away, so far i've washed my truck 4 times since then and its still going strong.

So i started using Prima Hydro to wipe down the truck after each wash and it really has impressed me and as many of you know im not a fan of wax. Once the Hydro is gone ill find something to replace it, any suggestions?
