Hey all, i posted these around a couple forums if you saw but i only seemed to get about 70% correction out of this jetta the first time and fully got it out after a grueling second time over. Is my problem using the PC 7424 or is it normal to spend about 18 hours on a jetta? :shead: help me out here but heres my work. What was done: - Before pictures :taser: - Wheels hit with Sonax full effect - Tires treated with Adams APC and sonax tire gel - Engine cleaned with adams apc and in n out spray - exterior wash using lusso auto bathe - door jambs cleaned as well as hood and trunk jambs - 303 aerospace on undercarriage - clayed entire exterior including windows - taped up - paint measurement - 3 step - m105 -> optimum polish -> menz powerlock - inspection with 3m sungun - rubber and vinyl cleaned - windows clayed again and cleaned Interior: - leather cleaned with sonax leather foam - vacuum - trims treated with 303 aerospace and in n out spray - interior glass cleaned Products used: Exterior wash: - Lusso auto bath - Grit guards - Uber wool wash mitt - Blue microfiber wash mitt - Uber super drying microfiber towel - 303 aerospace on undercarriage Engine: - Adams All purpose cleaner - Adams In n out spray Interior: - thorough vacuum - adams carpet and upholstery - In n out and 303 aerospace to clean the trims Paint correction: - Deflesko paint meter - 3m sun gun - Porter Cable PC 7424XP - Uber green and blue 5.5 pads - Surbuf pads 5.5 - Megs 105 - Optimum polish - Menz PO106FA - Menzerna powerlock Wax: - Sonax Nano Tech Wax Now for the pictures :thumbsup2: extremely faded headlights bird etchings water sheeting instead of beading is  post wash clay is pretty contaminated project e36 trying out surbuf pads for the first time hood before after m105 with surbuf some 5050 shots
unfortunately, no before interior pictures but it was in pretty bad shape, now much better :thumbsup2: I attempted to fix up the headlights but i had no more sandpaper to grind them down so i resorted to claying and hitting with strongest compound pad combo. after done! thanks for looking :thumbsup2:
Nice job. How much experience do you have in paint correction? Reason I ask is because that can certainly affect the time it takes to complete a job.
This was my 3rd paint correction detail, first time doing Surbuf and m105 combo. I'm slowly working on technique so I guess i'll get better over time. I've yet to use my flex 3401 as i figured i want to get the basics down with the pc first then move up. thanks for looking though guys
nice work. over time you will get better and faster, but it still takes time. sometimes polishing a car can take all day, especially if it's a hard clear and needs a 2-3 step polishing job.
Good job. I did a jetta last year that went quite well. I used a rotary though. VW/Audi clear is very hard. The last 328i I did had ridiculously hard clear. It laughed at my foam compounding pad on a rotary. Didn't have my wool that day, what a pain.
Can you break down the time spend on each process? For me claying is a bare because it is time intensive and seems to drag on. Wheels are the longest process in the cleaning stage for me. Any ways, great work.
