I currently have a pot of Victoria's Red and was wondering if I am going to have any issues or if I should take additional steps if I'm going to be adding another layer in the cold. My car is currently in an insulated garage (not heated) the temp is most likely anywhere from -2C to -5C. I have held of doing it the last few weeks as I was unsure; I've been applying a coat of DG Aquawax in the meantime. If you can give me some pointers that would be great!
I wouldn't apply anything in that kind of cold. You can contact David at Victoria Wax directly. Cool guy. Will most definitely have an answer for you.
It is not that it couldn't be done, but more a personal comfort level if you wanted to be working in freezing temperatures. If the car has been prepped and/or free of contaminates and residues use a small electric hair blower with heat on low to pre-warm the surface. Always start out in small sections to see how it is going. After that everything is as usual. A big worry to me would be some of the liquid car care products being subjected to prolonged freezing temperatures and changing their structure.
You may get a streaky or abnormal appearance. I did it once and it looked like holograms on the side..it wasn't..just the wax didn't go on well enough. Can you get a small, cheap electric space heater? Let it sit on overnight and warm up your garage at least into the 40's and you should be good to go. My garage is insulated but not heated. I use a small baseboardtype heater and it does a good job.
Its not heated? Good god man! You live in that mansion without a heated garage? Whats the world coming to?
LOL ^ I think I'll just tough it out until winter is done. Like I said above I layered a lot of JS109 and VR initially before the temps really dropped. I'll hold out for warmer temps. Warmer temps...Alberta...yeah I know :crasy:
