Did a full detail on a black 350z. HAd full paint correction. Had to use powergloss, then sip then po85rd. After i was done i checked it out under the lights and with halogens. Paint looked perfect. Then proceeded to apply wax and i let it set. When i woke up the next morming to do the interior i brought it in the sun to double check and noticed there were halograms now:mad2: Any suggestions on what caused these. how to avoid this next time around????? it really pissed me off after all the work and time i spent on it.
Either: A) the holo's were there after polishing / before waxing and you just didn't see them (this could happen for a couple different reasons) OR B) what you are seeing is not what is considered by most as a holo but rather the wax is "sweating" which, is a characteristic of some waxes with high nuba content. The potential of option B) can be determined rather easily by revealing what wax you used PS: Artificial lights are not a very good source to detect holo's
Either one of these contains the key. Try a wipedown of a QD to see if it gets rid of the marks if caused by reason #1.
I think it might be the sweating of the wax, or perhaps it was not wiped all off properly. I doubt waxing caused hologramming, unless your applicator had dirt in it.
Are you saying that it's possible to get rid of holo's with a QD wipe down ? I always did a rebuff with something like 85RD and a blue pad. Not that was a big deal. As long as I new what the fix was. I'm having a hard time understanding this...
Buddy, Pretty sure Richy is saying to try a wipedown to see if it gets rid of it and if it does get rid of it that they are not holo's... You can't remove holo's by a wipedown
Agreed, waxing WILL NOT create holo's even with debris on the applicator... debris on applicator will induce marring/scratches
it it a lot tougher to see holograms with halogen light than in the sun..it looks like you didn't inspect the paint well enough and had holograms before applying the wax
A good technique (especially with a high oil content wax) is to buff the wax with a 100% cotton micro fibre cloth and then spritz the paintwork with cold distilled water and wipe down, this helps to set the wax and will add that little extra gloss. Allow the solvents to vaporize (outgas) in the suns heat ad then buff to a gloss
this can't be holograms if you checked after every panel with a 3m sun gun or a brinkman or good lights.. i have seen stuff in 20 year old florescent i couldn't see well with the sun gun.. what it sound like to me is what everyone is talking about but seriously i think there might be a bonding issue.. i had this happen the first time i used concourso.. but i could smear it.. i didn't use cleaner fluid and the wax didn't bond properly.. now i know better.. how did you prep the paint after you polished? if you just take your finger and smear it across the hologrammish imperfection and it smears then obviously it is the lsp.. i don't see how you could miss holograms until after you have the lsp.. that's a lot of looking at the car without noticing them.. hell today i still had residue from cwg though i did use the most ever.. i mean it was insane.. still didn't get rid of all the wax.. man crystal rock is unreal... even after scrubbing part of the trim after it soaked it still wouldn't get off the dried old crystal rock.. had to use menz top inspection and a mf and rub HARD on the trim 3 times for like 3 mins to clear a 2x1 inch wax line..crazy. this was after two soaks of cgw.. oh well car is looking unreal now after 85rd and a black uk pad.. tomorrow cleaner fluid, js 109 and BOS for the winter.. then Tuesday another coat..
