I had picked up some Adam's Waterless Wash but have used PB's S&W and DP's Waterless Wash. I am trying to think of a good way to judge these (lubricity, cleaning, safeness). Suggestions? Here is the out of the bottle observations: PB's and Adam's smell (apple?) and look nearly identical (weird green) in color but they are different. When you spray PB's on paint, it tends to run where as Adam's and DP behave like most detailers and sticks to paint. DP has a green tint and mint smell. DP and Adam's do not wipe off easily just like detailers. PB's wipes off very nicely and adds some slickness unlike DP and Adam's. None seem to affect the gloss, etc. which is OK with me. However, I am still thinking how to check the attributes I mentioned earlier more objectively. If they all were equal in cleaning and safeness (lubricity) I would pick PB's due to easy wipe -- less wiping means less touching paint.
I have yet to use Adams but I agree with your review. DP seems to 'grab' a little more than S&W especially on non-maintained vehicles. I guess Optimum just came out with a waterless wash. I'm anxiously waiting to see where that fits into the mix. Lately I have been using S&W to presoak before using ONR on cars but the new Optimum waterless is a bit more cost effective which may be the route to go in the future when my 5 gals of S&W is out.
Have you tried the ONR at QD strength, put in a one gallon bug sprayer and spritzed on the panel as a pre soak, then wash with ONR?
I have but without the garden sprayer- just a regular sprayer. It is a lot more cost effective vs a waterless and still offers a little safer cleaning than ONR by itself.
Yep! I tend to "pre-treat" each panel like this before I hit it with ONR. I like the waterless washes, but I feel I really need to spray a lot of it on a panel to be "safe". I'm interested in the Optimum version. Looking forward to it coming out.
I wanted to prove the concept of safer cleaning to myself which is why I was looking for ideas on how to do a side by side test.
