Hi guys! Is Bilt Hamber Auto-Clay the only clay that uses water as lubricant or there are other clay bars with the same property?
ive used quite a few clays with water as lube, granted "optimum" lubrication was not present. water works, i just dont find it slick enough no matter what clay im using.
The japs only used water when they invented the clay, so the answer is no. You can use water with all clay bars, but it will marr more or less.
What about Bilt Hamber? Surely that clay you can use with only water.... right? It says so right on the box. I'd like to know before I start using mine.
I agree, water is simply not enough...with that said, ONR is very cost efficient clay lube. I also add a few drops of Megs #00 high tech wash to ONR clay lube for additional lubricity. Works very well, but requires good rinsing...
All clay bars can be used with water as lubrication, as I wrote above, when the japs invented clay they only used water and it worked just fine. But added lubrication and shine made it easier to clay and it also gave more money to the manufacturers. Of course.
^^^^agree100% Bilt-hamber its not the only one that u can use with water and as billyblooshoes and porta said all of them will be marr at certain point and u can get same quality of clay at better price at the market right now :thumb:
I have used BH as well as my own clay with straight water quite a bit without marring. Marring can be the result of an aggressive clay or soft paint. Clay lube is always a great idea as it adds a significant amount of slipperiness which will help cut down on potential marring but it will by no means guarantee the absence of marring.
I'm probably just going to use ONR with water for all my clays including the Bilt Habmer clays I have. Will the ONR have any negative effects on BH clay or no?
Last summer I helped one of my buds clean up his 2006 GMC 1500 Sierra Z71. We washed it with dawn and then clayed then truck. I mixed up some car wash soap, Megs Gold Class into two buckets and we split a large clay bar. His truck is white so all the grime showed up easily. By the time we had reached the tailgate both of our clay bars had just about broke down. I've never had anything like that happen to me before. I believe the detergent caused the clay to simply break-down. After that I only use a detailing spray or a dedicated clay lube.
